In terms of alliance-wise seat shares, the DMK and its allies, including the Congress, Left parties, and others won 73 seats, while the AIADMK and its allies, including the BJP,PMK, AMMK, and other smaller parties, won 53 seats. TVK swept through Chennai’s constituencies, wresting 14 of 16 Assembly seats in the district from the Dravidian major, the DMK. Harbour and Chepauk-Tiruvallikeni were won by the DMK, with the latter being represented by outgoing Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin. The party also won seats in the State’s western and central regions.

In another defining win, TVK’s V.S. Babu defeated by over 8,000 votes, Mr. Stalin in Kolathur, a constituency that has voted for the DMK and its leader in 2011, 2016, and 2021. Mr. Babu polled a vote share of just over 45%. For Mr. Stalin, his performance this election got him the lowest vote share in the seat since 2011.

Key candidates like Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) leader Seeman, DMDK’s Vijayaprabhakar, and former Minister D. Jayakumar from the AIADMK failed to win in their constituencies.

Here are a list of all winners, searchable by constituency.

With no party clinching the majority, all eyes are on possible post-poll alliances, with TVK leader Vijay having the pick among smaller parties for the ten additional seats required to make majority. The Congress, with its five seats and the PMK with its four seats are potential allies. Notably, some Congress leaders had floated the idea of a pre-poll alliance with the TVK instead of the DMK before the elections.
