A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Tamil Nadu government and Larsen & Toubro Limited, in the presence of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, at the Secretariat in Chennai on Thursday (June 4, 2026), for implementing three projects involving an investment of ₹18,600 crore and generating employment for 8,200 persons.
The projects covered under the MoU include a Hyperscale and Edge AI data centre in Kancheepuram district with an investment of ₹15,000 crore, which is expected to generate employment for 500 persons; an electronics manufacturing hub in Coimbatore with an investment of ₹2,500 crore, which is expected to create employment for 2,000 persons; and offshore wind infrastructure at Kattupalli in Tiruvallur district with an investment of ₹1,100 crore, which is expected to provide employment to 5,700 persons.

According to an official release, the Chief Minister appreciated the company’s continued investments and strong industrial presence in Tamil Nadu and welcomed its proposal to establish three projects across different sectors in the State.
The implementation of these projects is expected to create both direct and indirect employment opportunities for the youth and contribute to the State’s economic growth, the release said. This is the first MoU in the industries sector signed after the Mr. Vijay-led government assumed office.

Vijayakumar; Executive Director of Guidance Tamil Nadu P. Alarmelmangai; and Chairman and Managing Director of Larsen and Toubro S. N. Subrahmanyan were among others present.
