A teenager has been stabbed and nine further people have been arrested after a raucous crowd gathered in Clapham Common, in London's south.

Officers from London's Metropolitan Police force were called to the parkland on Friday (May 22) after large crowds gathered and fights broke out at the ‘unauthorised gathering’.

Video footage captured at the Clapham Common catch-up saw groups of people punching each other and grappling with each other on the ground while police attempted to break up the mass crowds. The unofficial gathering had been promoted on TikTok, which attracted the large groups of young people.

One teenager was rushed to hospital with stab wounds, which emergency crews declared to be "neither life-threatening nor life-changing", police said.

"The group were dispersed by officers after fighting broke out in the crowd, following this we made nine arrests. All of those arrested remain in police custody.

"We urge anyone who was at the event or who has any information to come forward to police by calling 101 and quoting CAD8948/22May.

"A police presence will remain in the area, and we’ll be reviewing CCTV and other evidence in the coming days."

Four boys - one aged 16, two aged 17 and, one aged 19 - were arrested on suspicion of affray.

A 16-year-old and a 14-year-old were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and affray.

A further two people – a 20-year-old man and a 15-year-old – were arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife. An 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.

It comes just weeks after a group of teenagers gathered on the Common and on Clapham High Street, terrorising shoppers and forcing retail stores to close early.

Shoppers, families, and unsuspecting passersby found themselves barricaded into stores by shop owners and police to protect them from the hundreds of youths as they tore through the well-to-do suburb through after schools emptied out for the Easter holiday break back in April.

At the time, footage surfaced on social media of fires being lit on the Common, as well as fireworks being set off.
