Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy left for New Delhi to secure Central Government approvals for the Hyderabad Metro Rail phase II project. During his visit, Mr. Reddy is scheduled to meet Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday (May 6, 2026).
The Chief Minister is expected to urge the Union Minister to expedite approval for the Hyderabad Metro phase II expansion project. The Telangana Government has already submitted the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed expansion to the Centre.

Under the phase II, the State Government has proposed seven new metro corridors covering a total distance of 122.9 kilometres. As part of the expansion, 86 metro stations are planned to be constructed. The total estimated cost of the project is ₹38,595 crore.
At present, the Hyderabad Metro phase I network spans 69.2 kilometres. When phase II completes, the total metro network in Hyderabad will expand to 191.9 kilometres.
The State Government has accorded top priority to the Phase II expansion in view of the rapid expansion of Hyderabad city, increasing traffic congestion, and the growing need for better airport connectivity.
