Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayThe new Canyon Grizl AL is the latest version of the brand’s bikepacking-ready gravel bike. Capable of fitting 29 x 2.1″ tires, the new Grizl AL promises versatility and performance at a competitive price. For more, dive into all the details below…
New for 2026, Canyon has launched an aluminum version of its adventure gravel bike, the Grizl, at a more affordable price. Similar in clearance and geometry to the premium carbon version Neil reviewed last summer, the 2026 Canyon Grizl AL features clearance for 29 x 2.1″ tires, ample mounts for racks and bottles, simplified standards for ease while swapping parts, and an improved aluminum frame that’s said to be 120 grams lighter than prior versions of Grizl AL.
One of the biggest changes to the new AL model is the brand’s choice of standards. The most significant critiques of Canyon’s offerings over the last few years have been their reliance on proprietary standards. On the new Grizl AL, however, the brand seems to have listened and changed course. With a standard 1 1/8” steerer, external cable routing, a round 27.2mm seatpost, and a threaded T47 bottom bracket standard, the Grizl AL appears to be much easier to live with.

Aside from rack mounts on the front and rear, the new Grizl also has mounts on the top tube and, of course, is compatible with the brand’s strapless LOAD Fidlock QuickLoader frame pack. Canyon also says the frame and fork can hold a pizza-style rack up front. The handlebar is also a standard design with a 31.8mm clamp and 16 degrees of flare.
Unfortunately for those based in the US, the new Grizl is split into two location-specific offerings. Currently, US customers have just one option, the Grizl 6 AL, priced at $1,999. The bike comes with a 12-speed SRAM Apex XPLR groupset, hydraulic brakes, Aluminum Alex rims, and Schwalbe G-One RX Performance tires. The Grizl AL is currently available in one color, Milk, comes in seven sizes, and has a claimed weight of 23.22 pounds in the medium size.
The Berry color is pictured left, and the Milk color is on the right.
The other model, the Grizl AL 5, is currently available only outside the US and offers an even more competitive price point. Stocked with Shimano CUES, hydraulic disc brakes, and a carbon seatpost, the new Grizl AL 5 is just €1,299. The 5 is available in a Berry color and has the same seven-size range.
