News From DC and Marvel
- A new Lanterns trailer and the official Supergirl trailer dropped recently.
- On the Marvel side of things, you can watch the final Spider-Noir trailer and the trailer for Season 2 of X-Men ’97.
- Disney is shuffling around its executives and putting different people in charge of Marvel, while eliminating the title of “publisher” altogether.
- Joe and Anthony Russo have announced that Avengers: Secret Wars, currently slated for release in late 2027, will probably be their last Avengers movie, though not necessarily their last Marvel movie.
- As part of a history-making cover story for Variety, Emma Corrin discussed, among other things, playing Cassandra Nova in Deadpool & Wolverine.
- Stan Lee: The Final Years, a documentary about Lee’s controversial last years, will debut at the Dances With Film festival later this month before eventually getting a wider release.
- Tom Holland spoke with Empire about playing Spider-Man and what he hopes to contribute to the franchise’s future.
- The sequel to Superman, Man of Tomorrow, will feature Lex Luthor in that iconic green-and-purple armor, as this photo from the movie set shows!
- Sebastian Stan, who plays Marvel’s Winter Soldier and who also portrayed Donald Trump in the film The Apprentice, has some choice words about the current administration.
News From the Wider Comics World
- After it was discovered that a story in one of this year’s Eisner Award-nominated anthologies was created using AI, the submission was withdrawn, and Comic-Con International, which runs the awards, has promised to create an explicit policy concerning how and if AI will be allowed in future nominated works. Stay tuned…
- Meanwhile, AI companies continue to be weird and creepy, this time by “resurrecting” Stan Lee so fans can pay to interact with “him.” No, gracias.
- The Crunchyroll Anime Awards happened! Was your favorite show honored this year?
- Digital comics retailer Neon Ichiban is making some changes to its service.
- Dark Horse is closing its three retail stores, Things From Another World. And speaking of Dark Horse, say hello to Dark Horse Workers United, a new union that hopes to empower the publisher’s employees.
- Peter Jackson has revealed that he is working on a Tintin movie.
- Comics Beat reported the story of a female Marvel fan whose attempts to get into comics were belittled by a male customer at a comic book shop — unfortunately, not an unusual experience, and one that you can easily help to stop by *checks notes* not being a jerk to complete strangers for no reason.
- Neil Gaiman is suing one of the women who has accused him of sexual harassment and abuse, further demonstrating exactly what kind of a person he is.
