This year's Comic Relief is taking place on Friday with highlights including a spoof of The Traitors starring Anna Friel as Claudia Winkleman.

Some recent stars of the murderous reality series including Rachel Duffy and Faraaz Nazoor are also taking part in a sketch titled The Traitors: The Movie – The Sequel.

Other special moments in this year's Red Nose Day show include a bank heist sketch with Luther star Idris Elba.

There is also a rather literal interpretation of comedy series Amandaland, which enlists a string of famous Amandas, and a performance from singer-songwriter Calum Scott.

Watch: Emotional Greg James completes Comic Relief challenge

The DJ began the journey in Weymouth, Dorset, last Friday and has since cycled through England, Wales and Scotland, finishing in Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium.

Along the way, the second saddle on his two-seater was filled by special guests including comedian Joe Lycett, fellow Radio 1 host Jamie Laing and, in a surprise appearance, the Prince of Wales.

Becoming emotional as he ended the final leg of his ride, James told Radio 1's Jack Saunders it had been an "amazing" experience.

"It's been such a struggle at times but everyone has got me through it," he said.

"The thing I'll remember the most is seeing the joy from everyone and pushing through the pain to get to that joy."

How to watch Comic Relief: Funny for Money

The show is live from MediaCityUK in Salford on BBC iPlayer and BBC One on Friday from 19:00-22:00 GMT.

For the first time, it is also being live streamed simultaneously on the official BBC YouTube channel.

What else can we expect from The Traitors skit?

The Traitors: The Movie – The Sequel follows the success of 2024's first instalment, which starred Catherine Tate, Asim Chaudhry, Iain Stirling and Suranne Jones.

Stirling returns to play this year's joint winner of The Traitors, Stephen Libby, alongside other celebrities such as Scott Mills and Alison Steadman, who come face-to-face with the real contestants they portray.

The parody also sees TV personality Vicky Pattison play joint winner Rachel, while DJ Scott Mills appears as James.

Actress Amanda Redman portrays Amanda, Gavin and Stacey's Alison Steadman is Fiona, while singer and radio host Fleur East plays Roxy.

Soap actor and Strictly contestant Lewis Cope takes on the role of Jack, while Paddington and Bridget Jones actress Jessica Hynes stars as Harriet.

Other real-life cast members appearing in the Comic Relief special include Ross Garshong, Jade Scott and Judy Wilson.

The sketch revisits some of the best moments from series four, with comic and presenter Ruby Wax apparently in the director's chair (although director and producer Ed Bye - who is also married to Wax - is really steering the ship).

Pattison said: "I have been a supporter and champion of Comic Relief for years, however this does feel a little bit outside of my usual wheelhouse.

"I am not an actor, I am not Northern Irish, I think I'd rather be back in the Arctic or trekking or something so I am very scared!"

Pattison completed an Arctic challenge for Comic Relief in 2024.

BBC Radio 2's Mills joked: "I am playing the role of James from The Traitors, and my fake earring is absolutely killing me, although I am getting quite used to these really big sideburns!"

Libby said: "I've got Iain Stirling playing myself, and he might be in a jumpsuit number as well – so I think he may currently be crying in a dressing room somewhere trying to squeeze into that."

What else is happening for Comic Relief?

Davina McCall is fronting the show, joined throughout the evening by a host of co-presenters from the comedy world, including Katherine Ryan, Nick Mohammed, Joel Dommett and Catherine Tate (as Nan from The Catherine Tate Show).

Motherland spin-off Amandaland gets the Comic Relief treatment in Amandas-land when the titular character (Lucy Punch) and her friend - and dogsbody - Anne (Philippa Dunne) are invited to BBC Broadcasting House for a live radio interview with Sara Cox.

A comedy of errors ensues as the pair encounter numerous other famous Amandas including Amanda Holden, Amanda Lamb and Amanda Barrie.

Other sketches include The Bank Job, featuring a cameo from Idris Elba as Luther and starring ITV This Morning presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

Chris McCausland, Stephen Mulhern, Shona McGarty, Niko Omilana, Gladiators' Sabre and Natalie Cassidy also join the heist.

Calum Scott is singing his hit version of Robyn's Dancing on My Own, while Blessing Offor is performing his song, Somebody's Child.

Scott and Offor aren't the only ones showing off their vocal talents, however. Tate - as Nan - is also be treating the audience to a musical number.

Romesh Ranganathan, meanwhile, hosts a Weakest Link special.

What is Red Nose Day and Comic Relief all about?

The very first Red Nose Day was in 1988 and raised £15m, with more than 30 million people tuning in.

The Comic Relief charity, set up in 1985, was the brainchild of film-maker Richard Curtis and comedian Sir Lenny Henry.

There have been 21 telethons since then (sometimes it runs every two years rather than annually).

More than £1.6bn has been raised since the charity began.
