Anyone with the products has been urged to stop using 'immediately'

TK Maxx has issued a product recall notice for a popular item sold across its stores. The retail company is recalling the item as it presents a risk of fire due to overheating.

XO Poppy Super Power 10,000 mAh Power Bank has been recalled from customers by TK Maxx. It is described as an electrical charger with swan, leopard, and bow prints.

The recall is for models PY-UKPBK10M-BW8, PY-UKPBK10M-LP1 and PY-UKPBK10M-SW3. They also have the receipt and price ticket codes 014851, 014852, and 014853.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards issued a recall notice for the products. It said: "The product presents a risk of fire as it has poor internal build quality, with wires soldered directly to the PCB with no secondary form of fixing.

"This could lead to the connections becoming loose over time, causing the product to overheat and ignite leading to a fire. The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulation 2005."

Anyone with the items must stop using them "immediately" and return them to TK Maxx stores for a full refund.

TK Maxx said: "Recent testing has identified a potential issue with the product’s internal wiring. In some units, the wiring may not be securely attached.

"As this is a portable product, there is a risk that the wiring could become loose during use, which may lead to overheating or a potential fire hazard.

"If you have purchased this product, please stop using it immediately and return to any TK Maxx store. You can get a full refund or replacement."

It added: "Tell your friends and family about this recall." Anyone who requires further information from TK Maxx has been told to contact 01923 473561 and [email protected] in the UK.

For Ireland, the contact is 01 2476126 and [email protected].

This month, multiple Tower air fryer models have been recalled, which are stocked at retailers including Sainsbury's, Lidl, Robert Dyas, B&M, Poundland, Tesco and the Tower website.

They present a fire hazard as they can overheat and catch alight whilst in operation, and they fail to meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

The impacted products are:

  • T17023 Tower 2.2Ltr Manual Air Fryer
  • T17061BLK Tower 4Ltr Manual Air Fryer
  • T17067 Tower 4Ltr Digital Air Fryer (Sainsbury’s SKU: 143897281)
  • T17087 Tower 2Ltr Compact Manual Air Fryer
  • T17129L Tower Vortx 8L Air Fryer (Lidl)
  • T17129 Tower Vortx 8L Air Fryer (Argos)

If you've purchased any of these items, unplug them immediately and contact the retailer for a refund.
