Toronto police provided an update Thursday morning on a nearly two-decade-old homicide. Det. Sgt. Stephen Smith said Toronto police arrested 43-year-old Pierre O'Conner Wednesday afternoon in Hamilton. He has been charged with first-degree murder. "Leads were further developed over several years. In 2025, investigators identified a person of interest. Subsequent DNA analysis confirmed a match to evidence recovered from the homicide scene in 2006," Smith said. Patrick Santos was found dead almost two decades ago after being found bound, beaten and suffocated in his father’s backyard in Toronto’s east-end.
