A special committee appointed by President Donald Trump to investigate allegations of false statements by Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook has rescheduled a hearing in which it wants Cook to appear from this Thursday to Dec. 14, a White House official said Wednesday evening.
The official said the rescheduling of the hearing at the White House came at the request of Cook, whose lawyer, Abbe Lowell, in an Oct. 14 letter said questions about the committee and its investigation would have to be addressed before the hearing could occur.
Lowell said at the time that the hearing could not take place until December, at the earliest. It is not clear whether Cook, whom Trump unsuccessfully tried to fire in August 2025, will consent to appear at the rescheduled hearing.

The New York Times first reported the rescheduling of Cook's hearing.
Trump in early October established a "committee of inquiry" to investigate allegations that Cook made false statements related to "one or more mortgage instruments." Cook has denied any wrongdoing.
Trump created the panel more than three months after the Supreme Court ruled that the president, for now, does not have the authority to fire Cook from the board of the central bank. The Supreme Court kept in place a lower court's order preventing Cook from being terminated while a lawsuit challenging her dismissal proceeds.
The Supreme Court did not rule whether Trump ultimately does have the power to fire a Fed board member, but did say that his first effort to fire her failed because she was not given due process to challenge that effort.
The committee of inquiry Trump set up may be designed to show the Supreme Court that Cook was given such due process.
CNBC has requested comment from Lowell.
