The next episode of Channel 4's social experiment will be the last

Channel 4's newest reality series sees 18 people chained to someone who is their polar opposite for as long as they can manage, all in an effort to win a £100,000 prize.

Hosted by Jonathan Ross, Handcuffed: Last Pair Standing sees the nine couples forced to spend their every moment together, bound by a pair of handcuffs. They sleep in the same bed, shower together and even use the toilet in close proximity with their new companion (though they are offered a comically long chain when it comes to needing a number two).

One of the most dramatic fallouts so far on the series to date has been between 79-year-old Sir Benjamin Slade, the 7th Baronet of Maunsel and his partner, 60-year-old former prison officer, George.

The couple clashed fiercely over their views on society and politics, leading Sir Benjamin to use bolt cutters - not the key provided by producers - to separate himself from George as swiftly as possible.

Other couplings include OnlyFans creator Rob, 32, who has been tied to self-professed prude and traditionalist, Charlie, 44. Meanwhile Green Party councillor Frank, 27, has found himself matched with political commentator and Reform UK supporter, 38-year-old Lin.

Channel 4's synopsis reads: "The competitors represent a complete cross section of British society, and have never met each other before. As the cuffs are locked in position with the duos either side of a special screen, they'll only discover who they've been chained to once the divide goes back.

"In a divided Britain, Jonathan's hoping living in such close proximity will force these opposites to talk, listen, and maybe even learn from each other."

When does Handcuffed: Last Pair Standing finish?

The series aired its penultimate episode tonight (March 16) as the last pairs standing were sent on a holiday, meaning there is now just one to go before viewers learn which handcuffed couple will win the prize.

The grand finale will air on Tuesday night (March 17) at 9pm, lasting an hour. During the final, the remaining couples will take part in a series of challenges designed to test their connection to their partner as alongside the endurance element, they must also demonstrate they are communicating with their other half.
