The two-match Test series between West Indies and Pakistan gets underway today at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, Trinidad. Both sides enter this series with a mix of seasoned campaigners and exciting young talent as they battle for crucial World Test Championship points.

Both teams head into the series under new leadership. Pakistan have reinstated Babar Azam as Test captain following Shan Masood‘s difficult stint at the helm. Meanwhile, the West Indies have handed the captaincy to spin-bowling all-rounder Roston Chase, with left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican appointed as vice-captain.

The rivalry between the two teams has traditionally been closely contested. Across their Test history, Pakistan hold a narrow advantage with 22 victories compared to the West Indies’ 19, while 15 matches have finished as draws. Notably, four of the previous seven Test series between the sides in the Caribbean have ended without a winner.
