A woman who was singing her heart out to a popular song at a karaoke night was gobsmacked when a mystery guest joined her on stage - as some say it made her night

We all have a go-to karaoke song. Whether you like making the evening fun by badly shouting the words to something upbeat and cheerful, or you're one to show off your impressive vocal range by attempting a Whitney Houston classic, karaoke is always a fun night - especially if you're with your mates.

But one woman got more than she bargained for when she took part in a bar's karaoke night and chose to sing a pop hit, because a mystery guest appeared on stage to sing it with her. A video of the woman was shared on social media by the guest himself, who said he felt it was "only right" that he joined her.

The TikTok video showed the woman belting out the words to Can We Dance, the 2013 hit by The Vamps, and had no idea that one of the members of the band was watching from the sidelines.

Connor Ball, who plays bass guitar and sings backing vocals for the band, looked shocked when he realised what song the woman was singing, and one of his friends dared him to join her on stage.

He looked unsure at first, but didn't take much convincing before he threw his bag under the table they were sitting at and ran to join the woman on stage - much to the amazement of the woman and her friend, who screamed in excitement as soon as he appeared.

An employee handed him a spare microphone, and he began singing the words along with the woman, while her friend jumped up and down like a fan at a concert.

Connor wrote on his video: "This girl did my band's song on karaoke, so I thought it was only right to join her." Although he added in the caption: "I don't even know if she knew who I was."

Commenters on the post were split over the sweet video. Some believed Connor had made the woman's night by joining her on stage, while others were convinced her scream of excitement was just a shocked reaction to being joined on stage by a stranger, and she didn't actually have any idea who Connor was.

One person said: "I love that you joined her, but I'm not sure she recognised you."

Another added: "Imagine going home and telling your friends you sang karaoke with the Connor from The Vamps."

A third wrote: "I love when artists do this! It's one of my favourite things to watch. The pure joy and shock from the fans is the best!"

Connor was the last member to join The Vamps alongside Bradley Simpson, James Brittain-McVey, and Tristan Evans. The band shot to stardom in the UK with the release of Can We Dance in 2013, which peaked at number two in the UK singles chart, and have gone on to have four other top 10 singles.

The band have released five albums, the most recent of which was 2020's Cherry Blossom, and all five have entered the top 10 on the UK albums chart. Cherry Blossom and Night and Day (Night Edition) topped the chart at number one, while Meet The Vamps and Night and Day (Day Edition) reached number two, and 2015's Wake Up reached number 10.

Connor also took part in the 14th series of Dancing on Ice in 2022, where he reached the semifinals alongside his professional partner Alexandra Schauman.
