Hundreds of artists and performing arts students protested outside Colombia’s Ministry of Cultures in Bogotá, using music, dance, puppets and giant banners to voice their opposition to government budget cuts.

The government has proposed reducing the ministry’s 2027 budget by nearly 30%, while the National Incentives Program’s awards and recognitions have been suspended for 2026.

Protesters are demanding the release of funding and greater support for the cultural sector.
