Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayIt has been confirmed that X star Brittany Snow is set to appear alongside Sydney Sweeney, Kirsten Dunst, and Paul Anthony Kelly in Lionsgate’s The Housemaid’s Secret, the upcoming sequel to 2025’s thriller mystery The Housemaid by director Paul Feig, who will return to the director’s chair for the follow-up. Both films are adapted from the book series of the same name by author Frieda McFadden, with the first novel being published in 2022 and the sequel book in 2023.
The Housemaid focuses on Sweeney’s Millie Calloway as she is hired by a seemingly perfect, American Dream family consisting of husband Brandon Sklenar and wife Amanda Seyfried. While Millie works hard to keep her dark past a secret, she is shocked to unravel the dangerous mystery twisted around the family she lives with and depends on.
The film grossed a worldwide total of $400.5 million from a budget of $35 million, generating positive reviews for its handling of a thriller plot with a layered mystery taking on darkness and comedy.
Confirmed to be in production in January, The Housemaid’s Secret will see Millie now being employed by a woman she is forbidden to lay eyes on, with a locked door concealing a major secret more intense and threatening than her own. Snow is set to take on the role of Marybeth, a receptionist who hides masterful mind tricks.
Rebecca Sonnenshine is the Emmy-nominated screenwriter who adapted McFadden’s novel for the big screen and will return to pen the sequel film adaptation. She holds additional writing credits on Amazon Prime’s The Boys, The Vampire Diaries and Outcast.

Meanwhile, Snow has recently appeared in the TV series The Hunting Wives, also for Lionsgate, due for a second season, as well as previous film credits in Netflix’s The Night Agent and Hulu’s Murdaugh: Death in the Family.
McFadden’s books were followed by a third novel, The Housemaid is Watching, in 2024. She has also penned the Dr Jane McGrill series in 2013 and 2017, as well as the Prescription: Murder series in 2014 and 2016, with standalone prose including The Surrogate Mother in 2018 and The Coworker in 2023. The first Housemaid novel sold around 1.6 million copies and became a regular title cited on BookTok.
The Housemaid’s Secret is set for a theatrical release on 17th December, 2027.
