TDP national president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said that the coalition government is striving to significantly increase the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) from the present ₹17 lakh crore with the Centre’s support and that Andhra Pradesh could recover from the ‘devastating blow’ dealt by the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government between 2019 and 2024.

“The Centre has extended valuable support for the development of the capital city in Amaravati and the construction of the Polavaram project,” Mr. Naidu said at the Mahanadu, the TDP’s annual conclave, on Thursday.

Speaking on the political resolution, Mr. Naidu said he was working hard to fulfil the expectations of the people, and for the welfare of the party cadres, whose sacrifices made the TDP formidable.

He observed that the Mahanadu was a grand success as 16.78 lakh people participated in the programme held in hybrid mode in the last two days. He promised that worthy cadres would be duly elevated.

Cadre welfare

“The TDP has spent ₹160 crore on the welfare of its cadres. Through social re-engineering, opportunities are being provided to capable leaders and cadres to reach the next level,” the TDP national president said.

He said that farmers gave lands for the Amaravati project voluntarily and that the ‘destructive rule of the YSRCP’ began with the demolition of the Praja Vedika. “Investors were afraid to come to Andhra Pradesh during the YSRCP’s tenure. But, the coalition government has restored ‘brand A.P.’ by making painstaking efforts,” he said.

The State was reeling under a debt of ₹10 lakh crore, which was being cleared steadily by rescheduling loans. The government revived a slew of Central schemes by paying the State’s share of ₹12,000 crore.

In the last 23 months, ₹23 lakh crore of investments were garnered, Mr. Naidu said, asserting that the TDP was making relentless efforts to reach its goal of creating wealth and providing welfare to the masses.

He said the TDP would mount pressure on the Centre to give 33% reservation for women in the Parliament and States’ Legislatures, and called upon the cadres to gear up for the 2029 elections.
