Communist Party of India (CPI) Andhra Pradesh State Secretary Eswaraiah on Sunday (May 10, 2026) demanded the immediate resignation of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar from both his ministerial post and Lok Sabha membership following the registration of a POCSO case against his son in Telangana.

In a statement, Mr. Eswaraiah alleged that a case had been registered at the Basheerabad Police Station in Telangana against Bandi Sai Bhageerath, son of the Union Minister, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly harassing a 17-year-old girl.

He further alleged that the silence of the BJP leadership over the issue reflected political hypocrisy and an attempt to shield the accused.

Expressing concern that a fair investigation could be hampered if Mr. Kumar continued in office, Mr. Eswaraiah said there was a possibility of influencing the probe or tampering with evidence through misuse of power. He asserted that resignation was necessary to ensure justice for the victim.

The CPI leader placed three key demands before the government: immediate resignation of Mr. Kumar to facilitate a transparent inquiry, highest-level police protection for the victim and her family, and a time-bound impartial investigation free from political pressure or influence.

He also urged the government to take stringent measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents and prove that the law applies equally to all.
