Sounds like the first game of the day was a good one. Which is lucky, because the next three were all absolute shellackings. The Hawks belted the Bombers, the Swans destroyed the Giants and the Bulldogs clipped the Tigers.

We've only got four more full Saturdays left of this season, so we should probably savour them all. On that note, we'll be back tomorrow to see round 20 out. We hope you'll join us back on the blog then.

Ed Richards and Marcus Bontempelli have delivered a devastating one-two punch as the Western Bulldogs posted their third win on the trot with a 57-point triumph over Richmond.

Richards tallied 32 disposals, six clearances, two goals, 11 inside 50s, 11 score involvements and 662m gained in Saturday night's match as the Bulldogs cruised to the 15.15 (105) to 7.6 (48) win.

Bontempelli was huge in the second half on the way to 29 disposals, three clearances, 556m gained and two goals for the night, as the seventh-placed Bulldogs improved their record to 12-7 and boosted their percentage from 93.2 to 96.8.

Tim Taranto battled hard for Richmond with 24 disposals and seven clearances, while Tom Lynch and Mykelti Lefau kicked two goals apiece.

But the last-placed Tigers (2-17) were clearly out of their depth against a Bulldogs team who are hitting their straps at the right time of the year.

The Bulldogs face a daunting task next Friday night when they take on flag favourites Fremantle in Perth, before rounding out their home-and-away campaign with games against North Melbourne, Carlton and Melbourne.

The Tigers' hopes of avoiding the wooden spoon could rest on next week's clash with fellow strugglers West Coast.

A tidy little 57-point win for the Bulldogs without a whole of sweat wasted. After a tight-ish first quarter the Dogs cruised it from there, starting from Ed Richards and Marcus Bontempelli in the middle and permeating out from there.

The Tigers, to their credit, never really gave up trying but they were thoroughly outclassed. Can't really question the endeavour, but the quality in the execution is still lacking.

The Bulldogs are only percentage out of the top six currently and remain right in the fight to avoid the wildcard scrap. The Tigers remain rock bottom, but face West Coast next week in what presents as a rare winnable game.

Icing on the Bulldogs' cake. The Bont spends the last few minutes at full forward and kicks a couple of goals. This time it came from a strong pack mark and set shot, which is more what you would expect.

Siren looming, the ton is up for the Dogs.

Of course he does. Not a Bont classic by any means, in fact it's a gift over the top thanks to the mark and handball from Lobb, but it's always nice to see the champ get on the scoreboard.

The Tigers haven't thrown in the towel at all, but the lead is 51 points.

I'm terribly sorry, it's highly unprofessional, but the broadcast just totally crashed and so I have no idea what just happened. Looks like Taranto just kicked a goal from a set shot directly in front, so well done him.

Now the broadcast has returned, but in Hindi. Either there are Fox Footy technical difficulties at play or am I totally losing my mind.

Quick hands open up the space and the powerful run of Hynes finishes it off. They've been really good at taking it to the outside of the contest from quarter-time on.

Bulldogs' lead is out to 45. 14 minutes to play in the last.

Mykelti Lefau kicked the opener for the Tigers, who have come in this term with some real physicality, but that snap from Jones will surely end any hopes of a miracle comeback.

The Bulldogs extended their lead in that third quarter, but not by much. The Tigers took a few more risks with their ball movement and it paid off to the tune of a few goals.

Of course, they were torched the other way on occasion too. But that's going to happen at this stage of the development. The odd bright spark from Lalor, Hotton, Trainor and co are all you can ask for at this point.

The Bulldogs need to see this out professionally and give that percentage a boost in the process.

Mansell is very, very fast. A little chip and chase forward from Peucker sat up perfectly for Mansell to run onto, and run onto it he did.

The Tigers have found a way to score at least in the third. Some promising signs amid the wreckage,

Goal number two for Lynch, but that was all about the grab that led to it. He was well back in the queue and somebody reached over the top of everyone to reel it in.

It was probably Sellwood's mark in front, looking at it again. But Lynch sold it best, looked the strongest. Had the good vibes about it. Also, throw the Tigers a bone at this point.

He just would not be denied! Three or four efforts in the one play, setting things up then mopping up his mess and then finishing his work. Richards carried that play from half-back all the way to goal.

What a player he has become. An utter workhorse, but with genuine class on top. Bulldogs out by 51 points now.

A bit of class from Bontempelli sends the Bulldogs straight out the front of the centre bounce. Naughton marks and dishes off to Weightman who runs into an open goal.

All a bit easy for the Doggies that time.

After misses from Jones, Naughton and Lobb, Dolan finally converts for the Doggies in this third quarter.

He quite obviously played on after taking the mark, but the umpire was feeling generous. He took and converted his set shot.

Richmond break the run of goals with the first of the second half. That's come after the Bulldogs blew three really good looks on goal.

Lalor followed up his own short pass to half-forward to receive the handball dish off and then converted on the run from 45. Lalor has been quiet, but you've got to pay him more attention than that.

Sydney have bounced back to form emphatically, consolidating second spot on the AFL ladder with a 51-point trouncing of crosstown rivals Greater Western Sydney.

The Swans were untroubled from the opening ball-up on Saturday as they cruised to a 21.13 (139) to 13.10 (88) victory on Saturday.

Errol Gulden collected his fourth Kirk-Ward Medal as the best player in the Sydney Derby, racking up 41 disposals, seven clearances and 1045 metres gained, the most in Swans history.

Brodie Grundy (23 disposals, one goal) was supreme in ruck, while Chad Warner (32, one), Isaac Heeney (25, one), Nick Blakey (24, one) and James Rowbottom (23, two) all had the Giants' measure.

Charlie Curnow kicked four goals and Logan McDonald added three.

Adding injury to insult for GWS, who have now lost seven of the past eight derbies, midfielder Finn Callaghan hobbled off in the dying minutes after rolling his right ankle.

GWS showed a lot more fight after the main break, outscoring Sydney in the second half but the damage was already done.

Clayton Oliver (29 touches, one goal) toiled hard in the midfield for the Giants, as did Connor Idun (27), Lachie Whitfield (26) and Lachie Ash (26) in defence.

So it's a scoreless second quarter for the Tigers, a really disappointing return given they started the game brightly.

The Bulldogs have been short of their best, rather untidy at times and wasteful in front of goal, but they have also been comfortably the better team and good value for a 31-point lead.

Concerns for the Tigers in the second half, as these Dogs have a season to play for here and won't quickly be taking the foot off the pedal.

Make it five in a row for the Bulldogs and the lead is out to 31 points with a couple of minutes left in the half.

That was an impressive pack mark from Croft, who read the ball in better than anyone and drifted in from the side. The finish was neat, and the strife is increasing for the Tigers.

They've kicked 5.10, which does give you an indication of the domination the Bulldogs have now gained. They should be up by far more.

But they have kicked four in a row now, and they are becoming progressively easier.
