Martin Lewis has hit back against scammers after they posted a fake video of his wife "being attacked". Martin and his wife Lara Lewington were targeted by scammers, who used deepfake videos and AI to share a terrifying video.

A fuming Martin took to social media after the video appeared online: "If I'd thought the ****ing scammers couldn't sink any lower - now they have now done deep fake ads with a supposed video of my wife being beaten up by an 'immigrant' as he was refused entry to ' Martin Lewis ' Quantum AI' investment scheme as it isn't for 'outsiders'. We've had worried messages from friends.

"Social media firms have no problem taking money to publish this offensive, fake, organised criminals attempts to rip people off! Clearly if you see these please report them. Yet I have no faith in any of these firms to clear up this crap as they're earning too much. And the implementation of the scam ads rules in the Online Safety Act keep being delayed and delayed."

He later issued an update to thank fans for their well wishes and said his wife faced no harm. "Thank you so much for all your concern. Just to be clear Lara thankfully hasn't been beaten up. There is no AI investment scheme. This is all in the criminals sick fantasy to attack clicks to get contacts to steal from them," he added.

The story garnered multiple messages from fuming fans, with one writing: "I’m so sorry this is so wrong they has to be ways the government can stop this , sending love juts disgusting."

Martin then replied: "We're fine thankfully both pretty robust, I'm more angry than Lara to be honest." Another fan added: "So very very sorry that this has happened to you and your lovely wife."

Martin isn't shy about speaking up against the big tech firms and scammers. He regularly uses his channels to issue warnings to consumers who might see an advert appearing to be 'supported' by him.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain today, Susanna Reid said: "Just use this opportunity to remind people, you are not involved in any investment programmes, are you? There was a horrible deepfake scam targeting Lara yesterday. Just want you to remind people what to do in the face of those horrible scams."

"OK," Martin replied, "Look, there are two types of scams that use me and other celebrities. The first is get rich quick schemes." He mentioned a couple of schemes that he said were "saying the elites don't want you to know about that", telling viewers that they were "nonsense". He added: "It's a scam. They are not real schemes. It's just people stealing your money."

The TV star said that the other type were "clickbait scams". He continued: "I've been dead. I've been beaten up... And the latest one is that my wife was beaten up because I wouldn't let an immigrant into my investment scheme."
