INDIA bloc leaders on Wednesday (October 7, 2026) organised Aakrosh March at all 534 blocks in Bihar by burning the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over alleged illegalities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
In Patna, the march started from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) State office, located at Beerchand Patel Path, and moved to the Income Tax Golambar, where effigies of the three were burned.
INDIA bloc leaders alleged that the Election Commission of India (ECI) is acting as a puppet of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and that politics is underway to weaken democracy and the constitution.
“The truth has come to the public domain now about how Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are using the ECI to weaken democracy with the SIR process first in Bihar and other states,” said RJD spokesperson Ejaz Ahmed.
He added that the INDIA bloc, under the leadership of RJD National Working President Tejashwi Yadav, vowed to continue the struggle to save democracy. Demands were raised to expose the ECI allegedly involved in fraud and to hold fresh elections in Bihar.
During the protest march, a large number of INDIA bloc and workers hit the streets, chanting slogans such as “Gyanesh ko Bhagayo, Loktantra Ko Bacho (oust Gyanesh and save democracy)” and “Vote Chor- Gaddi Chhor (vote thieves, vacate the chair).”
“Policies weakening democracy will not be tolerated. BJP-ECI nexus, have some shame and stop the murder of democracy,” said a leader of Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation.
On October 8, 2026, a Lok Bhavan march led by the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly will also be launched from Patna’s Shaheed Smarak, and sit-in protest marches will be held in every district.
Leaders and workers from all parties of the INDIA bloc, including sitting and former MPs, MLAs, and MLCs, will participate in this Lok Bhavan March. The march will commence at 11 a.m.
Meanwhile, K. Ravi Kumar, Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand, said that eligible Indian citizens from Jharkhand who have not yet been enrolled must ensure that their names are added to the electoral roll by attending the digitisation camps, which will be on October 8 and 9, or the mega helpdesk on October 10.
“Eligible Indian citizens who, for any reason, have not yet been able to get their names added to the electoral roll during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) should visit the special digitisation camps organised at their respective polling stations on 8, and 9 to register their names using Form-6,” Mr. Kumar said.
He has directed District Election Officers (DEOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to identify such citizens and provide them with the necessary assistance during the enrollment process.
