India’s installed non-fossil fuel power capacity has crossed 300 GW, reaching 300.50 GW as of July 31 and accounting for more than 54 per cent of total installed electricity generation capacity.

India's installed non-fossil fuel power capacity has crossed the 300-GW mark, accounting for more than 54 per cent of the country's total installed electricity generation capacity, a senior Union government official said on Monday.

The milestone was highlighted at the first regional roadshow for the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo (BRE Summit) 2026 held here as part of a nationwide outreach campaign ahead of the event scheduled in New Delhi from November 2 to 5.

India's installed non-fossil fuel capacity stood at 300.50 GW as on July 31, achieving more than 60 per cent of the country's target of 500 GW by 2030, according to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

MNRE Joint Secretary Rajesh Kulhari said India's clean energy transition was a shared national mission, with resource-rich states such as Rajasthan playing a key role.

"With our installed non-fossil capacity having crossed the 300-GW milestone, regional roadshows like this play a vital role in aligning state capabilities with national targets," Kulhari said.

He said the BRE Summit would bring the entire renewable energy value chain together and provide a platform to translate policy objectives into bankable projects, cross-border investments and technological partnerships.

Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Limited (RRECL) Chairman and Managing Director Rohit Gupta said the state was moving beyond standalone solar projects and seeking to build an investment ecosystem for wind-solar hybrid infrastructure, battery energy storage and emerging green fuels such as green hydrogen.

The Jaipur event is the first in a series of roadshows, with similar programmes planned in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Bengaluru and Kolkata in the coming weeks, according to a release.
