Authorities in India forcibly transferred activist Sonam Wangchuk to a hospital in New Delhi, in compliance with the court's order, police said on Saturday, after his health deteriorated during a 20-day hunger strike. Wangchuk, 59, has been fasting since June 28. The strike is part of the youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) movement for education reform. Wangchuk and others demand the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over massive exam paper leaks in May that affected millions of students. The movement also seeks reforms to the exam system and compensation for families affected by related suicides. Police say Wangchuk's hospitalization followed medical advice and a court directive. The founder of the Cockroach Party, Abhijeet Dipke, announced he would also begin a hunger strike. CJP's founder, Abhijeet Dipke, said Wangchuk was "forcibly dragged away by the Delhi police," who also assaulted him and denied him entry to the protest site.
