Meanwhile, Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf accused the United States of planning a ground invasion. He warned Iranian forces are ready to respond forcefully if US troops enter the country. A widening trust deficit between Tehran and Washington is undermining diplomatic efforts. Iranian officials indicate they are preparing for a prolonged war rather than a quick resolution. They appear to favour a war of attrition to counter US objectives for a swift outcome.
