Riding back-to-back days with a loaded bike puts significant wear and tear on the bike and the gear attached to it. Although training and mental preparation are important for any race, ensuring your bike setup is dialed is crucial to avoid unnecessary mechanicals and keep moving forward. A route like the Highland Trail 550 subjects your gear to unimaginable abuse, given the technical singletrack, water crossings, muddy bogs, and the rain Scotland is known for.

Justinas Leveika took first place at this year’s Highland Trail 550, completing the 566-mile course in just 3 days, 11 hours, and 49 mins, six hours behind Alex McCormack’s record-setting 2024 ride. He finished over 10 hours ahead of the second-place rider, a testament to his experience. Hunt Wheels, a sponsor, just published an informative rig check video in which Justinas goes over his bike, components, bags, and everything else he brought along for the ride. Watch it above.
