Former Minister and YSRCP district president Kakani Govardhan Reddy staged a protest in front of Podalakur police station in Nellore on Saturday, demanding the suspension of a Sub-Inspector (SI) for allegedly beating a party worker without cause.
Speaking to the media on this occasion, Mr. Govardhan Reddy said, “YSRCP leader Hari from Navoorpalli village of Podalakur mandal in the district questioned the Assistant Engineer (AE) of Electrical department for taking a bribe of ₹40,000 for providing a connection to a farm.”
“SI Hanif called Hari to the police station, beat him up miserably and threatened the YSRCP workers. There are many allegations against the SI, and he should be suspended immediately,” the Former Minister claimed.
“As soon as the YSRCP comes to power, we will take action against the officers who have caused trouble to the party workers without any cause,” he warned.
After the DSP assured to conduct an investigation into the incident and take necessary action, Mr. Kakani called off the protest.
