BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 13. Kazakhstan and the European Union discussed energy cooperation and prospects for developing international energy supply infrastructure, including the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC).

This was announced by the press service of the Kazakh MFA, following the phone call between Minister Yermek Kosherbayev and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas.

According to the ministry, the sides reviewed the implementation of agreements reached during Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's visit to Brussels on June 23.

The discussion covered the bilateral agenda, expansion of trade and economic ties, promising areas of cooperation and the schedule of upcoming bilateral and multilateral contacts.

“The participants focused on issues related to cooperation in the energy sector and the prospects for developing international energy supply infrastructure, including within the framework of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC),” the ministry outlined.

The sides also confirmed their interest in further strengthening the Kazakhstan-EU partnership and expanding cooperation in promising areas.

Meanwhile, Kazakhstan's energy exports through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) remain an important part of its international oil supply infrastructure. According to OPEC's August 2026 Monthly Oil Market Report, crude flows through the CPC terminal on the Black Sea were broadly unchanged at around 1.7 million barrels per day in July, up by 69,000 barrels per day, or about 4%, year-on-year.

The report also noted that disruptions to CPC Blend loadings affected crude markets in July. Several days of suspended loadings prompted European refiners to seek alternative crude grades, while CPC Blend differentials increased by $0.83 per barrel. OPEC said crude flows through the CPC terminal remained broadly unchanged month-on-month.
