Lord Malayappa Swamy, the processional deity of Lord Venkateswara, appeared as Kodanda Rama on the Hanuman Vahanam on Saturday morning (October 17, 2026), marking the sixth day of the Navaratri Brahmotsavams at Tirumala.

Holding a bow and arrow, the deity rode Lord Hanuman—the ardent devotee of Lord Rama, through the Mada Streets, drawing devotees who offered camphor harati amid chanting of Govinda namams. Traditional Kolatam, wooden-stick dances and devotional music added to the festive atmosphere.

The Hanumantha vahanam symbolises unwavering devotion and selfless service, recalling the sacred bond between Lord Rama and Hanuman. The procession was among the highlights of the day’s religious celebrations.

Adding a cultural dimension to the festivities, 516 artistes representing 25 troupes from 14 States presented traditional dances, folk performances, and musical renditions along the procession route, showcasing India’s diverse artistic heritage.

The evening was dotted with the procession of “Pushpaka Vimanam” wherein, Lord Malayappa accompanied by his two divine consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi, appeared as Govardhanagiridhari Sri Krishna on the specially crafted Pushpaka Vimanam.

Made primarily of coconut palm leaves and adorned with traditional flowers, the structure measured 24 feet in height and 15 feet each in length and width, weighing approximately one tonne. It featured figures of Sri Anjaneya and Garuda along with representations of deities associated with the four yugas.

Eminent florists from Tamil Nadu and personnel of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Garden Department toiled for more than a week in crafting and designing the floral palanquin. Chennai-based donor Ramprasad Bhatt had lent his support and expertise in its preparation. The day came to a close with the procession of Gaja vahanam in the night.
