Will Ferrell's comedy drama follows a former world champion golfer who looks to relaunch his career.

The Hawk has left fans talking about one star in particular as it reaches number two in the Netflix Top 10.

Netflix's The Hawk has been climbing the streaming charts following its recent release and the series stars comedian and actor Will Ferrell as Lonnie Hawkins, a washed-up champion golfer who attempts to win the US Open to complete the Career Grand Slam.

The comedy drama, which suffered some filming hiccups, stars some big names with Molly Shannon playing Stacy, Lonnie's ex-wife, and Chris Parnell as Anton, Lonnie's rival.

One role that has caught the attention of fans is that of Sam, Lonnie's new caddy, and she makes up for her lack of golf knowledge with fierce loyalty to the Hawk and his mission.

The star who plays Sam said: “These two have similar energies and end up really leaning on each other and forming a cool friendship.

“I personally don’t know anything about golf. But luckily my character, Sam, does not know anything about golf.” But who plays caddy Sam in The Hawk?

Caddy Sam is played by Fortune Feimster, an American writer, comedian, and actress who became known for playing Colette in The Mindy Project.

In July 2019, she became the host of the radio show What a Joke with Papa and Fortune along with Tom Papa, with the pair interviewing comedians and celebrities. More recently, she played Heather in The L Word: Generation Q, a reboot of the series The L Word and starred as Ruth in the action comedy series, FUBAR.

The 46-year-old star, from North Carolina, had lived in Spain for a year before moving to Los Angeles in 2003 to pursue comedy. She actually had a seven-year career in entertainment journalism before turning her attention to comedy as a career.

As for her personal life, the actress came out as a lesbian in 2005 at age 25, admitting there was not much in her childhood to educate her about sexuality.

She told the Charlotte Observer previously: “It was easy to be very isolated in Belmont, and not know what was going on in the world around me.

“I didn’t have examples of gay people. I knew what it was, obviously, but there was no one that I knew who was out and living a normal life in Belmont. So it didn’t occur to me that that could be what I was."

In 2016, she began dating kindergarten teacher Jacquelyn Smith and the pair got engaged two years later. They married in a small ceremony in 2020, but in June 2025, the couple announced they had separated.
