Netflix has secured the exclusive broadcasting rights to the 2030 World Cup in Spain, marking the streaming giant’s first major agreement to show the men’s tournament.

The platform will stream all 104 matches live during the competition, which will be hosted primarily by Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

However, selected fixtures will remain available on free-to-air television, including every Spain match, both semi-finals and the final.

Netflix confirmed the agreement on Tuesday, securing the Spanish rights to the 48-team tournament.

It follows the company’s previous deal with FIFA to broadcast the Women’s World Cup in the United States in 2027 and 2031.

“As part of the agreement, one match per matchday will be available for free in Spain,” the company said in a statement.

“A package of matches, including every Spain match, both semifinals and the final, will be made available for broadcast on a national free-to-air broadcaster.”

Netflix has acquired the rights in Spain to broadcast the 2030 men’s World Cup, which is being jointly hosted by Morocco, Spain and Portugal.

2030 World Cup to make history across three continents

The 2030 World Cup will mark the 100th anniversary of the inaugural tournament, which was held in Uruguay in 1930.

To celebrate the centenary, FIFA has arranged for matches to take place across six countries and three continents.

Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay will each host one of the opening three fixtures before the competition moves to its main host nations of Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

Spain will enter the tournament as defending champions following their triumph at the 2026 World Cup.

Meanwhile, the battle to host the 2030 final remains unresolved, with Spain and Morocco both pushing to stage the showpiece fixture.

Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu is Spain’s proposed venue, while Morocco is promoting the 115,000-capacity King Hassan II Stadium currently being built near Casablanca.
