BC-based Norco Bikes is known for making mountain bikes with hard-charging downhill performance, and today it introduces a brand-new Torrent DH. Built explicitly with simplicity and durability in mind, the 200mm Torrent DH is a no-nonsense, aluminum-framed gravity bike in a hard-charging and faff-free package.

With 200mm of travel front and rear, MX wheels, and a burly aluminum frame, the Torrent DH is made for bike park laps and shuttle runs. With simple but effective Horst-Link suspension and external cable routing, Norco intends the Torrent DH to be reliable and easy to live with. And with one complete build priced at $4,499 USD, it’s competitively priced, too.

Norco Torrent DH Details

With the Torrent DH, Norco went out of its way to make a gravity bike that’s “simple, durable, easy to fix, and easy to trust.” That includes a burly aluminum frame with 200mm of travel front and rear. No idlers, no high pivots, just a classic Horst Link layout with Norco’s VPS (Virtual Pivot Suspension) design. It comes in a mixed-wheel size configuration only.

For ease of ownership, Norco gave the Torrent DH fully external cable routing and a threaded bottom bracket to make maintenance tasks hassle free. For durability, they’ve included comprehensive, replaceable frame protection, including integrated fork bumpers, a branded shuttle guard, chainstay protector, and a bashguard.

The complete build and frameset come with a custom-tuned RockShox Vivid Air gravity shock, and the bike is also coil shock compatible. Additionally, Norco’s Ride Aligned setup guide provides bike setup suggestions to get your suspension settings close to perfect, right out of the gate.

Other details include 12 x 148mm Boost axle spacing and frame clearance for tires up to 2.5” wide. There’s a tool/accessory mount on the underside of the top tube. The frame is also backed by Norco’s No Other Way Lifetime Warranty.

Geometry

As a dedicated gravity sled, the Norco gave the Torrent DH a very descent-oriented geometry that prioritizes downhill confidence and stability. Not surprisingly, It’s long, low, and slack. Similar to other bikes in this category, it has a 63-degree head tube angle and generous stack heights.

It comes in five frame sizes, S1 – S5, with reach measurements starting at 420mm, and increasing in 20mm increments to 500mm on the largest size. For proportionality and balanced handling, Norco also designed each frame with size-specific rear center lengths, starting at 430mm and growing by 5mm per size up to 450mm on the S5.
