The Kadavanthra police on Wednesday (July 1, 2026) registered a case against actor Tiny Tom for allegedly making defamatory and communal remarks against fellow actor Ansiba Hassan. Mr. Tom was booked a day after the Ernakulam District and Sessions Court directed the registration of a first information report (FIR) based on Ms. Hassan’s complaint.

Ms. Hassan had moved the court after the police recently refused to register a case based on her petition on Tuesday (June 20, 2026) following a preliminary investigation.

Mr. Tom has been booked on charges including insulting the modesty of a woman, criminal conspiracy, spreading false information, and other non-bailable offences.

Ms. Hassan, in her petition, had challenged the police decision not to file an FIR on her complaint despite being continuously subjected to alleged harassment, obscene remarks, gender-based insults and communal comments, including imputations regarding her parentage, family life and religious identity.

Earlier, Ms. Hassan had cited the alleged harassment and other offences by Mr. Tom as the reason behind her resignation as the joint secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes. Mr. Tom has repeatedly denied the allegations.
