Officials have confirmed six people have died after a helicopter crashed in Qatar waters.
The Ministry of Interior has confirmed six of the seven people on board the helicopter have been found dead with a search and rescue mission still underway for the remaining missing person.
The helicopter crashed at sea following a technical malfunction while carrying out a routine mission, according to a previous statement from the Ministry of Defence of Qatar in the early hours of Sunday.
In a statement issued today, the Ministry said specialised teams are continuing its extensive mission across Qatar's territorial waters.
The Ministry said in a post on X: "The Ministry of Interior announces that within the framework of the ongoing search and rescue operations for the mission persons following the helicopter crash in the state's territorial waters, search efforts have resulted in finding six out of seven who were on board.
"The death of those who were found has been confirmed, while specialised teams continue their intensive operations to find the last missing person."
The statement concludes: "The Ministry of Interior extends its deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the families of the deceased, praying to Almighty God to grant them His vast mercy, admit them into His spacious paradise, and give their families and loved ones patience and solace."
