Real Madrid are open to selling Vinicius Junior if they fail to reach an agreement over a new contract, according to reports.

The Brazil international is due back for pre-season training on Monday following his post-World Cup break, but uncertainty remains over his future with just one year left on his current deal.

Club officials are reportedly unwilling to improve their latest contract offer and believe the next move is down to Vinicius, who must decide whether to extend his stay at the Bernabeu or pursue a move elsewhere.

Arsenal remain interested

Arsenal are understood to be monitoring the situation closely and believe they would be well placed to make a move if Vinicius decides to leave Madrid.

However, sources close to the 26-year-old insist there has been no contact with the Premier League champions.

Negotiations over a new contract have dragged on for months, with Vinicius previously deciding to postpone talks until after the World Cup.

The winger has been at Madrid since joining from Flamengo in 2018 and has developed into one of the world’s leading attackers, scoring in two Champions League finals and finishing runner-up in the 2024 Ballon d’Or voting.

Rodri and Diomande targets

Vinicius endured a frustrating campaign last season, reportedly becoming unhappy under former manager Xabi Alonso and showing his frustration after being substituted during El Clasico.

Madrid have been active in the transfer market this summer, adding Carlos Espi to their squad, while also closing in on deals for Yan Diomande and Manchester City midfielder Rodri.

Jose Mourinho’s side begin their pre-season schedule against Fiorentina in Austria on Saturday, with new signings Denzel Dumfries and Espi included in the travelling squad.
