Zerodha Fund House launches Zerodha Arbitrage Fund, targeting low-risk, tax-efficient investments for surplus cash

Zerodha Fund House Launches Zerodha Arbitrage Fund

Zerodha Fund House today announced the launch of the Zerodha Arbitrage Fund, an open ended scheme investing in arbitrage opportunities, that may be ideal for investors looking to park surplus cash in a tax-efficient, relatively low-volatility manner.

Investors in higher tax brackets may consider this fund since it has relatively low-risk while with the lower taxation (LTCG, STCG) applicable to equity funds.

The fund invests in a mix of equity and equity derivatives (min. 65%) and debt instruments. Rather than depending on markets rising or falling, the strategy seeks to capture temporary price differences between a stock and its corresponding derivative contract. When these pricing gaps aren’t available, the fund temporarily parks the money in short-term debt instruments in accordance with the investment strategy.

With a minimum investment of ₹5,000, the fund may be suitable for conservative investors looking to park surplus money for a horizon of a few months.

Gold holds firm near two-month high as cooling US inflation lifts rate-cut hopes

Renisha Chainani, chief research officer at Augmont, writes Gold Holds Firm, Eyes $4500 as Inflation Cools

•\u0009Demand and Supply – Gold held steady near its highest level in more than two months, as traders took a pause following a rally driven by cooling U.S. inflation. Attention has now shifted to an upcoming producer price report, which could offer further clues on the prospects of near-term Federal Reserve rate hikes. Traders are currently pricing in roughly a 40% chance of a rate hike at the Fed’s September meeting, down from 46% before the inflation data was released.

•\u0009Geopolitical Tensions – President Donald Trump said the United States has “total control over the Strait of Hormuz,” even as negotiations over the key waterway remain deadlocked. His increasingly confrontational tone has deepened doubts over whether an agreement to reopen the critical shipping route can be reached anytime soon.

•\u0009Macro-Economic Signals – Data released Wednesday showed that US consumer inflation slowed for a second consecutive month, easing to 3.4% in July while rising just 0.1% from the previous month. Investors are now awaiting producer inflation data due later in the global session for further clues on where price pressures are headed.

Black Box delivers highest ever Quarterly Revenue with Robust Order Bookings and Order Backlog

Black Box Limited (BSE: 500463 | NSE: BBOX), a leading provider of digital infrastructure solutions, today announced its unaudited financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026.

Black Box is entering a new phase of scale, supported by a stronger business foundation, deeper global customer relationships and growing participation in the infrastructure powering the AI economy. Following several years of transformation, the Company has strengthened its financial position, execution capabilities and global delivery platform, positioning it to pursue larger, more complex and mission-critical digital infrastructure programs.

The addressable opportunity is substantial. Across data centres, enterprise networking, connectivity infrastructure, cybersecurity, managed services and digital workplace solutions, Black Box participates in an estimated US$250–300 billion global market. A significant share of this opportunity is concentrated in the United States, where the Company has an established operating presence and deep relationships with some of the world’s largest enterprises.

With a growing order book and backlog, experienced leadership, strong industry tailwinds and proven capabilities in executing large-scale global projects, the Company is well positioned to capture a larger share of this market. This provides a credible pathway towards its targeted revenue goal of US$2 billion by FY30.

Hyperscale infrastructure is emerging as a powerful new growth engine for the Company.

During the quarter, Black Box added a new global hyperscaler through a US$131 million (~₹1,240 crore) order, while continuing to expand its relationship with an existing hyperscaler. The Company is also the only India-origin, AI-led digital infrastructure solutions provider currently executing gigawatt-scale data centre programs demonstrating the depth, scale and execution capabilities it has built to participate in the accelerating global AI infrastructure build-out.

The focus now is on converting this strong market position into sustained, profitable growth: deepening relationships across approximately 300 strategic enterprise accounts, increasing participation in larger multi-year programs and building the execution capacity required to capture a greater share of the opportunity.

      A Larger, Longer-Duration and Higher-Quality Order Book

New orders reached approximately US$339 million (₹3,208 crore) during the quarter, lifting the order backlog to an all-time high of approximately US$949 million (₹8,986 crore), up 83% YoY.

The backlog reflects a step-change in the scale and quality of the business. Compared with a historical range of approximately US$450–500 million, backlog has nearly doubled, supported by increasing participation in large, multi-year and mission-critical programs. Project-led backlog grew approximately 50% QoQ, with longer-duration engagements providing 24–36 months of revenue visibility.

Order momentum is expected to strengthen through FY27. Black Box expects US$1.3–1.5 billion of order bookings, representing growth of approximately 32–45% over FY26, and expects to exit FY27 with an order backlog of US$1.3–1.4 billion, an increase of approximately 65–75% YoY. This expanding order base provides a durable platform for the Company’s next phase of growth.

Momentum Extends Across a Blue-Chip Customer Base

Demand remained broad-based beyond hyperscalers, with financial services, healthcare, public services and retail contributing approximately US$80 million (~₹757 crore) to order bookings during the quarter.

Key wins included a large U.S. connectivity infrastructure and networking engagement with one of the world’s largest chip manufacturers; a workplace solutions and connectivity engagement with a leading discount retailer; and significant orders from a U.S. state government and a leading healthcare provider.

The breadth of these wins reinforces Black Box’s position in mission-critical infrastructure environments and highlights the opportunity to deepen relationships and expand share of wallet across its strategic customer base.

      Building a Scalable Execution Advantage

As digital infrastructure programs increase in size and complexity, the ability to mobilize experienced, skilled resources at scale is becoming a critical competitive differentiator.

Black Box is strengthening its leadership, sales, engineering and delivery capabilities and plans to hire nearly 3,000 professionals by FY30, primarily in the U.S. This investment is intended to expand delivery capacity, support larger and more complex programs, and create the execution engine required for the Company’s next phase of growth.

Mr. Sanjeev Verma, Whole-time Director & Chief Executive Officer , said, “We have entered FY27 with strong momentum, delivering our highest-ever quarterly revenue of ₹1,719 crore, up 24% YoY, driven by improved execution of our expanding backlog and the contribution from our recently acquired Brazilian business, 2S. Strong order bookings of US$339 million lifted our backlog to an all-time high of US$949 million, providing greater visibility and a strong foundation for sustained growth.

Black Box today operates from a fundamentally stronger platform. Our growing participation in AI-led digital infrastructure, expanding hyperscaler relationships and deep presence across approximately 300 strategic enterprise accounts give us significant headroom to scale. Our priority is to convert this opportunity into disciplined, profitable growth as we build towards our ambition of becoming a US$2 billion revenue company by FY30.”

Mr. Deepak Kumar Bansal, Executive Director and Global CFO , said, “Q1 demonstrates the improving financial quality of the business, with EBITDA growth outpacing revenue growth and margins expanding by 90 bps. The increasing scale, quality and duration of our order book create a stronger base for growth and enhance revenue visibility.

Our focus remains on translating this momentum into stronger cash flows and returns through operating leverage, disciplined working capital management and prudent capital allocation, while selectively investing in capabilities that can create sustainable long-term value.”

Gold, silver remain supported as softer US inflation could boost bullion sentiment: Aspect Bullion

Darshan Desai, CEO, Aspect Bullion & Refinery

“Gold and silver continue to remain firmly supported, with the bullion market now closely tracking upcoming US inflation data for further direction. From an industry perspective, the resilience in precious metals reflects continued investor interest in bullion amid evolving global economic conditions and uncertainty. A softer inflation reading could further support gold by strengthening expectations of a more accommodative interest-rate environment, while a stronger-than-expected reading may lead to some short-term profit-booking and volatility.

We continue to see bullion retaining its importance as a store of value and a means of portfolio diversification. While prices remain elevated and short-term movements are likely to be driven by global macroeconomic cues, the underlying sentiment towards physical gold and silver remains constructive.”

Stock has corrected 24% over last six months & currently trading at 28x FY28e EPS

This compares to one year forward 10-year mean PE multiple of 32x

      CITI on PI Ind

      Sell, TP Rs 2375

1Q EBITDA was down 29% yoy (up ~9% qoq) on lower Agro CSM exports (down 13% yoy) & weaker EBITDA margins (21.6% vs 21.5% in 4Q and 27.3% in 1QFY26).

Higher EBITDA loss in pharma + global biologicals (~20% of standalone EBITDA vs~12% in FY26) also hurt.

While PI continues to invest in diversifying across own agchems, pharma, electronic chemicals, near-term performance should be driven by impact of generic competition on their largest product.

With current year pyroxasulfone sales already front ended and generic competition likely to intensify from next year (expiry of process and some formulation patents in US), await clarity

      CLSA on Astral

      Hold, TP Rs 1490

Resilient demand and channel inventory restocking has led to a strong 2Q start for Astral’s piping business (40% growth in July).

1Q was largely in line with flat volume growth (versus the industry down 10% YoY) driven by sharp channel destocking due to volatile PVC prices.

Its Ebitda margin improved for piping while adhesives was impacted by high-cost inventory (it guided for a recovery over subsequent quarters).

Guidance was maintained across segments, which we think is largely achievable.

      CITI on Astral

      Buy, TP Rs 1900

1Q EBITDA was up 25% yoy, driven by both plumbing and adhesives segments.

While plumbing volumes were impacted by volatility in PVC prices in 1Q, they have sharply recovered in July – leading to a double-digit volume growth in first 4.5 months of FY27.

Mgmt remains confident of achieving their guidance for 10-15% volume growth and an additional 10% value growth from the plumbing segment in FY27.

CPVC backward integration project remains on track for 4QFY27 – should support margin expansion and market share gains in FY28.

      Jefferies on Lenskart

Buy, TP raised to Rs 680 from Rs600

1QFY27 continues to build the story, with strong growth & sharp margin expansion.

Market creation remains a top priority, with supply, rather than demand, being a key constraint in India, evidenced by c70k daily eye tests

Co now plays at bottom end with a fully loaded Rs500 product, while a clear premiumization trend is visible.

Margin improvement in international should put a key investor concern to rest.

Meller could be the Ray-Ban of future!

      CITI on Lenskart

Neutral, TP Rs 650 from Rs600

Another strong quarter on growth & profitability in India & International (broadly in line with Citi est).

SSG in India remained strong at 18.3% (although moderated vs 24.2%/27.8% in 4Q/3Q).

EBITDA margins - both India and International witnessed improvement led by GM expansion (higher ASP/product mix, in-house manufacturing) along with operating leverage (SSG-driven)

Expect growth momentum to remain strong as Lenskart continues to straddle across price points to accelerate store expansion, customer acquisition and conversion

Will watch for growth momentum in 2H given the high base.

Lenskart execution remains strong on all parameters: store expansion, SSG and profitability/margins (India and International).

However, believe current valuations are already pricing in growth & margin improvement trajectory & hence limit upside potential

PAT at Rs15.9bn grew 11%YoY and was 4%/6% ahead of Citi/consensus.

Importantly, growth outperformance has come even in absence of Tejas LCA (whose revenue will be recognized only upon handover) delivery commencement highlighting resilience in HAL’s broader business

      See a) clear scope for re-rating once LCA deliveries commence, which could lift a long standing overhang;

While commodity costs remain inflationary, TMCV expects impact to be mitigated through price action (2.5% in July), along with ongoing cost reduction measures.

On demand front, TMCV highlighted underlying momentum remains healthy and it expects commercial vehicle (CV) industry demand to remain robust, with 2QFY27 volume likely to deliver double-digit growth.

Nifty likely to open lower near 24,380; 24,300 key support, traders advised caution: Thincredblu Securities

Gaurav Udani, Founder - Thincredblu Securities

“Nifty is expected to open lower around 24,380, down nearly 50 points, indicating a cautious start after the recent volatility.

The index is approaching an important support zone, and buyers need to be cautious at current levels. 24,300–24,400 will act as the immediate support range, while 24,700–24,800 remains the key resistance zone.

A sustained break below 24,300 could increase selling pressure and lead to further profit booking, while a recovery above 24,500 would improve the short-term outlook.

Traders should avoid aggressive buying at the open and wait for confirmation around key support levels. For now, a cautious buy-on-dips approach is preferable, with strict risk management.”

      Daily Quote from CoinSwitch

BTC is steadying around $64,000–$64,200 after a choppy CPI-day session, having reclaimed the $64,000 handle following a dip to an intraday low near $63,400. Yesterday’s July inflation print landed largely in line — headline CPI eased to 3.4% year-on-year (from 3.5%), with the monthly gain at 0.1% and core cooling to 2.5% — an outcome analysts framed as “buying the Fed time, not conviction.” The in-line read preserved existing September expectations, with prediction markets now pricing roughly a 67% chance of no rate change at the next FOMC meeting, so crypto’s initial relief bounce has faded into cautious consolidation rather than a decisive breakout. Underlying flows remain thin and mixed: spot BTC ETFs saw only modest net inflows (around $7.8M Tuesday, led by BlackRock’s IBIT), leaving price hemmed inside the familiar summer range. ETH is holding in the low-$1,900s, still capped well below the $2,000 psychological level. Near-term support sits at $63,400–$63,600, with a break lower exposing the $62,000–$63,000 zone. On the upside, the first hurdle is the $65,000–$65,500 supply shelf; a sustained move above it would be needed to shift structure, with $68,300 the level bulls must clear to invalidate the current range. Sentiment stays neutral-to-cautious as markets pivot from CPI toward the broader Fed policy path and lingering geopolitical noise. Said CoinSwitch Markets Desk

Bitcoin remains range-bound near $63,400 as weak demand, cooling ETF flows limit breakout prospects: Giottus

Market analysis by Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus.com

      August 13, 2026

Bitcoin traded near $63,400 on Thursday morning, down about 0.6% over 24 hours, despite softer US inflation data. The muted response suggests that improving macro conditions have not yet translated into strong crypto demand. Immediate support is around $63,000-$63,250, followed by $62,000. Resistance lies near $64,400-$64,500, with $66,000 remaining the stronger short-term ceiling.

On-chain conditions explain some of this caution. Bitcoin’s Median Realized Price stands near $63,000. The short-term holder cost basis is around $68,700. This leaves many recent buyers below their average acquisition price. Spot Bitcoin volume measured in BTC has fallen to its lowest level since 2019. Sellers appear increasingly exhausted. However, fresh buying demand remains limited. Bitcoin remains caught between strong cost-basis support and insufficient demand for a breakout.

US spot Bitcoin ETF flows remain positive for August overall but have cooled. Funds attracted $865.3 million across five consecutive sessions from August 3-7, before recording a $144.6 million outflow on August 10. August 11 returned to a modest $7.8 million inflow.

Large-cap altcoins were mostly weaker. Ethereum traded near $1,877, down about 0.4%, BNB fell 1.3% to $610, XRP declined 2% to $1.00, and Solana lost 1.2% to $75.60. TRON was the exception, gaining about 0.4% to $0.336.

July US CPI rose 3.4% annually, while core inflation eased to 2.5%. Markets subsequently reduced the probability of a September Federal Reserve rate increase to about 38%-40%. Attention now turns to Thursday’s US Producer Price Index. Brent crude near $88 remains an inflation risk.

Our advice: Investors should avoid chasing short-lived rallies while Bitcoin remains below $64,500-$66,000. Staggered accumulation, limited leverage and disciplined position sizing remain preferable until stronger ETF and spot demand confirm the recovery.

India’s July CPI Hits 19-Month High, Core Remains Contained, RBI to Stay Vigilant

Food Pressures Push Headline Inflation to a 19-Month High

India’s consumer price inflation accelerated to 4.45% YoY in July , reaching a 19-month high , from 4.38% in June. The increase was primarily driven by food prices, with Food & Beverage inflation rising to 5.24% , reinforcing food as an important contributor to the increase in headline inflation. Inflation remained elevated in fish and other seafood (17.86%), meat and fish (15.30%), fruits and nuts (8.34%), oils and fats (8.54%) and prepared foods (8.96%) . In contrast, vegetable inflation remained mixed, with several key vegetables, including tomato, potato and lady’s finger, remaining in deflation, while inflation in onion and garlic surged to 22.6% and 35.4% , respectively. This suggests that the current food inflation shock remains concentrated in selected food categories rather than representing a broad-based acceleration across the entire food basket.

Second-Round Effects Are Emerging in Services, But Core Inflation Remains Relatively Contained

The impact of higher energy and transportation costs is increasingly visible beyond the food basket. Restaurant and Accommodation Services inflation accelerated to 7.72% , from 6.91% in June, suggesting that higher fuel, transportation and operating costs are gradually being passed through to consumers. This represents an important second-round channel that warrants monitoring. At the same time, broader underlying inflation remains relatively contained. Core Inflation ex. Food & Beverages and Fuel & Light was around 3.86%. Core CPI excluding precious metals was roughly 2.96% in July , slightly higher than the previous month’s reading but still contained.

Supply-Side Inflation Delays, But Does Not Eliminate, Rate Hikes

At the August MPC meeting, the RBI unanimously kept the repo rate unchanged at 5.25% and retained its neutral stance. At the same time, the RBI lowered its FY27 CPI inflation forecast to 5.0% from 5.1% , while raising its FY27 real GDP growth forecast to 6.7% from 6.6% , reflecting greater confidence in the growth outlook amid the recent encouraging trend in high-frequency indicators. The policy therefore suggests that the bar for rate hikes has risen, particularly as the RBI views current inflation pressures as being driven largely by food and fuel rather than by a broad-based demand shock. Any further policy tightening is likely to remain contingent on a sustained rise in energy prices or evidence of broader, demand-driven inflationary pressures, rather than the current supply-led increase in headline inflation. The principal upside risk remains El Niño and adverse weather conditions . A disruption to agricultural production could sustain food-price pressures, while crude prices are now expected to average closer to US$85/bbl . That said, while consensus expects the central bank to remain on hold through FY27, we continue to expect the RBI to deliver at least two rate hikes , amounting to a cumulative 50bps over the next 12 months , with possibly one hike before the end of FY27. Such a move would take the repo rate to approximately 5.75%, enabling the RBI to maintain a positive real policy rate of at least 75bps .

Goldman Sachs expands crypto footprint with $2.25 billion Neos deal as Bitcoin remains range-bound

Harish Vatnani, Head of Trade, ZebPay

“Goldman Sachs is expanding its crypto footprint with the planned acquisition of Neos Investments for up to $2.25 billion in cash and equity. The deal would bring three crypto options-income ETFs — BTCI, XBCI and NEHI — under Goldman Sachs Asset Management, strengthening its exposure to the growing crypto investment-products market.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin remains stuck in the $62,000–$66,000 range, with steady ETF demand being offset by selling from miners and corporate holders. The latest U.S. inflation data offered little clarity, with July inflation at 3.4% and core inflation easing to 2.5%, both broadly in line with expectations.

The mixed data leaves the Fed’s next move uncertain. Weak employment supports a more cautious approach, while inflation remains above target and three policymakers backed a rate hike at the July meeting. With neither bulls nor bears gaining a clear advantage, Bitcoin’s next major move could depend on upcoming economic data and changing expectations around Fed policy.”

Softer US CPI supports crypto risk appetite, but Bitcoin, Ethereum face key resistance levels

      Nischal Shetty, Founder, WazirX

“Ahead of the US CPI release, markets expected headline inflation to rise just 0.1% in July and core CPI by 0.2%. A hotter 0.3 - 0.4% core reading could have increased the likelihood of a September Fed rate hike, tightening financial conditions and pressuring crypto.

Instead, CPI matched expectations at 0.1%, while core CPI rose 0.2%, with annual rates at 3.4% and 2.5%, respectively. The contained inflation reading has reduced expectations for a September hike, supporting liquidity and risk appetite, which is a positive development for Bitcoin and the broader crypto market.

Wall Street has responded positively to the softer CPI environment. Overall US markets signal improving risk appetite, with the Nasdaq and S&P 500 advancing. The Dow remained broadly flat, and gold was stable. Oil declined 1.38%, potentially easing future inflation pressures.

BTC trades near $63,384, sitting around its $63,379 50-day SMA, while most shorter moving averages cluster above $64,000 and signal resistance; $63,200 - $63,400 is therefore an important support zone, with $64,000 - $64,550 being the immediate resistance. ETH near $1,876 shows support at around $1,863 - $1,870, while the $1,881 - $1,899 range creates overhead resistance.

With reduced expectations of a September Fed hike, the backdrop is supportive for crypto, although BTC and ETH need an additional catalyst for stronger momentum.

The liquidation breakdown shows $165.13 million in leveraged crypto positions liquidated over the past 24 hours, split between $78.01 million in longs and $87.11 million in shorts.

BTC futures traders may watch $63K - $62.5K as key downside levels, while $64.5K marks near-term resistance. A sustained move higher could bring the $65.5K - $66K zone into focus for market participants. For ETH futures, $1,870 remains a key level to monitor, with $1,850 - $1,815 forming lower support zones. On the upside, $1,925 is key resistance, followed by $1,960 - $2,000 if momentum strengthens.”

MNCL Research – La Opala – 1QFY27 First Cut: Revenue in line; PAT ahead of estimates

CMP: Rs 190 | TP: Rs 225 (UR) | Mcap: Rs 21.0bn | Rating: BUY (UR)

Revenue : La Opala reported revenue growth of 9.3% YoY to Rs 714mn (MNCL Est- Rs 698mn), broadly in line with our estimates. While the growth comes on a favourable base. We believe the recovery was largely driven by the domestic business (~95% of sales), while exports (~5% of sales) continued to remain subdued.

Margins: Gross margin stood at 90.9% versus 93.0% in Q1FY26. OPM contracted by 64bps YoY to 36.3%, primarily due to higher power costs (+92bps YoY). However, lower employee expenses (-145bps YoY) and other expenses (-90bps YoY) helped contain the overall margin decline.

EBITDA : EBITDA grew 7.5% YoY to Rs 259mn (MNCL Est- Rs 256mn), broadly in line with our estimates.

PAT : PAT increased 3.3% YoY to Rs 262mn, (MNCL Est. Rs 196mn).

View : La Opala has started FY27 on an encouraging note, delivering high-single-digit revenue growth after an extended period of subdued performance. More importantly, the improvement appears to be driven by a recovery in the domestic business, indicating that the company’s dealer rationalisation and distribution restructuring initiatives are beginning to yield results. While exports remain weak , the return to topline growth is a key positive. We maintain our positive stance on the stock and will revisit our estimates shortly.

MNCL Research: Scoda Tubes Ltd 1QFY27 first cut: Shutdown leads to muted performance

CMP: Rs 134; TP: Rs 200 (under revision); Rating: BUY (under review)

Revenue: Rs 1.24bn; +28% yoy and +0.6% qoq (vs MNCL estimate of Rs1.31bn). Shutdown of the piercing plant in April due to unavailability of gas and seasonal shortage of labor was the main reason of low revenue.

Gross margins: 32.0% vs 29.2% yoy (MNCL estimate of 32.3%)

EBITDA: Rs 160mn (miss to MNCL estimates); +12.5% yoy. EBITDA margins: 12.9%; -173bps yoy; Margin compression was mainly due to weak absorption of fixed cost, high gas cost post the restart of piercing plant and adverse product mix (higher proportion of pipes)

      PAT: Rs 53mn; -26.1% yoy

Our view: 1QFY27 was a muted performance due to shutdown of the piercing plant and labor shortage. We expect revenue and margins to recover starting 2QFY27E and gradually improve with expected commissioning of the new welded plant in 2HFY27E. We will revisit our thesis and come out with an update note. Remain positive on Scoda Tubes.

Revenue: Rs 7.7bn; +19% yoy; +3% qoq, in line with our estimates.

Gross margins: 38.3%; -70bps yoy; -92bps qoq, compression on yoy basis is due to RM cost pressure.

EBITDA: Rs 1bn; +16% yoy; -5% qoq; Margins: 13.4%; -18bps yoy and -121bps qoq; compression in margins is mainly due to RM cost pressure.

      PAT: Rs 649mn; +13% yoy; -9% qoq

Our view: FIEM reported another quarter of strong growth, supported by premiumization shift from halogen to LED and solid traction in underlying 2W vehicle production. The RM cost pressure has affected margins in 1QFY27, which is expected to iron out in upcoming quarters with price pass on from customers. We continue to remain positive on the premiumization thesis in 2W lighting and ramp up of 4W lighting at FIEM.
