ensex Today, Nifty 50 | Stock Market Live Updates - Find here all the live updates related to Sensex, Nifty, BSE, NSE, share prices and Indian stock markets for 2nd September 2026
The Sensex slipped below the 76,500 mark for the first time since late July. Sudeep Shah, Head of Technical and Derivatives Research at SBI Securities, noted that the “weakness is also evident across the broader Asian markets, with all major indices trading in the red and registering declines in the range of 1–4 per cent.” On BSE, 2,165 stocks were declining against 1,601 advancing, with 145 stocks hitting lower circuits and 100 touching 52-week lows.
The auto sector was the hardest hit on Wednesday. Eicher Motors was the worst performer on the Nifty 50, crashing 5.27 per cent to ₹7,550.00 against a previous close of ₹7,970.00 on volumes of over 7.19 lakh shares worth ₹54,819.25 lakh.\Higher crude prices directly raise input costs for tyre and component manufacturers, squeezing margins across the sector.
Energy stocks bucked the trend, benefiting from the same crude surge that was hurting oil-consuming sectors. Coal India topped the gainers list, rising 3.55 per cent to ₹415.85 from ₹401.60, with a massive 2.84 crore shares traded worth ₹1,18,615.68 lakh, making it one of the most actively traded counters.

Gold Will Never Lose the Sheen while silver outlook remains constructive: Emkay Wealth Management
According to Emkay Wealth Management, Gold and silver continue to retain their long-term appeal despite recent profit booking and short-term volatility, supported by strong fundamentals, central bank demand and expectations around global interest-rate movements. As of July 31, 2026, gold was trading around US$4,328 per ounce, while silver was at approximately US$62 per ounce.
Gold has found strong support around the US$4,060 level, while silver has held the US$58 level over the past four to six weeks. Despite the recent correction, the resilience in precious metals indicates that the broader uptrend remains intact, with the current phase of consolidation providing a stronger base for the next leg of the cycle.
According to Mr. Vivek Choksey, Regional Manager, Emkay Wealth Management, Ahmedabad, “The recent correction in precious metals needs to be viewed in the context of the larger structural rally. Gold and silver have continued to demonstrate resilience despite profit booking and uncertainty around the interest-rate trajectory. Gold, in particular, continues to benefit from its role as a strategic reserve asset, while sustained central bank accumulation provides an important fundamental support. With the rally having completed only a part of its historical cyclical journey, we believe the long-term case for gold remains constructive. Any sustained shift towards a softer interest-rate environment could further strengthen the outlook for precious metals.”

Shoonya launches FnO Edge, an advanced options trading toolkit
Shoonya, the digital trading platform of Finvasia, today announced the launch of FnO Edge, an advanced options trading toolkit that brings market analysis, strategy building, risk assessment and execution together on a single platform.
FnO Edge is being integrated on Shoonya Pro and is available for free to all Shoonya users. Powered by ClickTrade, it is designed for manual trading and does not involve algorithmic or automated trading.
FnO Edge follows a five-step workflow: Analyse, Build, Evaluate, Simulate and Execute, taking traders from reading the option chain and constructing a strategy to assessing its potential outcomes, testing different scenarios and placing the trade. The toolkit brings these stages together so traders can evaluate an options strategy without having to switch between multiple tools.
“In options trading, the decision matters as much as the execution. Traders need to understand not just the opportunity, but the risk, the strategy and how a position may behave as markets move. FnO Edge brings that perspective together, helping traders approach every trade with greater clarity,” said Sarvjeet Singh Virk, Co-founder & MD, Shoonya by Finvasia.

ESDS Software Solution Pre-listing view: Shivani Nyati, Head of Wealth at Swastika Investmart LTD.
ESDS Software Solution is well-positioned for a strong market debut driven by explosive profitability, high customer retention, and clear expansion plans. Raising ₹720 crore entirely via a fresh issue to fund data centre capex, the company has demonstrated robust financial execution, with FY26 revenue reaching ₹472.21 crore and net profit skyrocketing to ₹120.82 crore as margins expanded to 25.59%. Its rare full-stack capability and 94.92% revenue retention rate set it apart from loss-making peers like E2E Networks, justifying its Subscribe rating and a premium 35.66x P/E valuation. Strong investor appetite is further reflected in its ~143x subscription rate and a steady grey market premium (GMP) of ₹330–₹335, pointing toward potential listing gains of nearly 78% over its upper price band of ₹429.

Gold slids to three-week low amid sharp escalation in West Asia tensions: Rupsha Chainani, chief research officer at Augmont
Price Movement – Gold slid to a three-week low on Wednesday, pressured by a sharp escalation in Middle East tensions that pushed oil prices higher and revived fears around inflation and rate hikes. With markets now bracing for upcoming U.S. jobs data, investors have grown more cautious. Silver wasn’t spared either, tumbling nearly 4% to trade near $64 as traders weighed the growing odds of a Federal Reserve rate hike — a view reinforced by the recent jump in global bond yields and crude prices.
· Geopolitical tensions – Tuesday marked one of the sharpest escalations in weeks, as the U.S. carried out a series of airstrikes against Iran, drawing swift retaliation from Tehran. The fallout was immediate: oil prices extended their rally for a third consecutive session, and U.S. Treasury yields pushed higher alongside them. This renewed bout of U.S.-Iran hostilities has added fresh urgency to inflation concerns — and with crude now more expensive, the path toward tighter monetary policy looks likely to firm up further, keeping a lid on any meaningful recovery in gold.
· Macro-Economic Signals – Bond yields worldwide climbed as inflationary pressures built and rate-hike expectations solidified. In the U.S., Treasury yields reversed course entirely, erasing the dip that followed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s announcement of an expanded buyback program.
Technical Triggers
· Gold’s sharp climb from $4,000 to $4,680 has since cooled, with prices retracing to the 38.2% Fibonacci level near $4,400–4,410. That zone should act as support for now — but a break below opens the door to further downside toward $4,315 and $4,235. On the flip side, a sustained move above $4,500 could set up a fresh rally toward $4,700 and eventually $4,900.
· Silver has followed a similar arc, pulling back to around $66 after its run from $55 to $71. Holding above this level keeps the setup intact; a breakdown could send prices toward $63 and $61. If silver instead pushes and holds above $67, look for a renewed push toward $71 and $76.

Gold:
Gold price in India has resumed gapped down today at 150,033, continued to decline for the 6th consecutive session. Price has resumed trading below 50 and 100-DEMA level placed at 151,681 and 150,179 respectively. Gold fell on Wednesday to its lowest in more than three weeks, as the escalating Middle East conflict lifted oil prices and stoked inflation and rate-hike fears. Also, traders are also focused on upcoming US employment data. Traders are pricing in a 67% chance of a rate hike at the Federal Reserve’s policy meeting this month. Immediate support would be at 149,150 and breakout of this level will boost downside momentum in Gold price in today’s session.
Silver:
Like Gold, Silver price has also resumed gapped lower with -1.25% at 232,536, continue to trade below its key moving averages i.e. 50 and 100-DEMA levels placed at 234,722 and 236,480 respectively. Along with recent price decline after testing the hurdle of 248,124, we can observe a rise in OI level to 12,320 in current contract, suggesting Short buildup. Here, major support would be at 200-DEMA level placed at 225,430 and breakout below this mark will add more bearish momentum in Silver.
Crude Oil:
MCX Crude oil September contract has opened with gap-up by +0.75% at 8603, likely to continue its upside momentum as price has started trading above its all key moving averages i.e. 20, 50 and 200-EMAs on intraday charts placed at 7954, 7888 and 7497 respectively. Brent oil has surged to $97 a barrel amid growing US – Iran hostalities. The U.S. and Iran exchanged fire Tuesday as they continued to battle for control of the Strait of Hormuz. In recent price momentum, price has breakthrough the neckline resistance of 8366 of a Cup & handle price formation, formed on 4-hourly timeframe. Major support would be at Daily SAR level placed at 7808. On the other side, crucial resistance would be at 8900, breakout of this mark would boost upward momentum in Crude oil price.

Quote | Avinash Shekhar, Co-Founder & CEO, Pi42
“Bitcoin is consolidating around the $77,000 mark after a strong August, as renewed geopolitical tensions, rising oil prices and expectations of tighter monetary policy weigh on broader market sentiment. The immediate focus remains on whether BTC can defend the $76,000-$77,000 zone and reclaim $80,000. Ethereum is trading around $2,400 and continues to benefit from institutional accumulation, but a sustained move higher will depend on broader market strength and its ability to build momentum above current levels. XRP, meanwhile, remains relatively resilient around $1.34, supported by growing institutional participation in regulated futures markets.
The next few sessions could remain sensitive to macro developments, particularly expectations around the US Federal Reserve and movements in bond yields and the dollar. Investors should avoid chasing sharp intraday moves and instead look for confirmation around key support and resistance levels. Staggered entries, disciplined position sizing and maintaining adequate liquidity would be preferable while the market establishes a clearer direction.”

Bernstein on Sun Pharma: Outperform, TP ₹2,235
Bernstein has an Outperform rating on Sun Pharma with a target price of ₹2,235. Sun Pharmaceutical became the sole Indian company among nine drugmakers signing most-favoured-nation (MFN) pricing agreements at the White House and remains the only Indian innovator across all MFN signatories to date. Bernstein believes the agreement is strategically important because it both protects and expands Sun’s $1.2–1.3 billion innovative-medicines franchise. Under the agreement, Sun will extend MFN pricing to participating Medicaid programmes and apply MFN principles to future innovative launches. Lower Medicaid net prices could expand patient access, reduce prior-authorisation barriers and support broader biologic adoption.

Jefferies on healthcare: still constructive, prefers Fortis, Dr Agarwal and Gland
Jefferies said its July SMID report featuring Piramal Pharma, Emcure, Medanta and Entero delivered 5–50% returns on the back of a strong June quarter which saw earnings upgrades. It still remains constructive on Emcure but sees more favourable risk-reward in Fortis, Dr Agarwal Healthcare and Gland Pharma from current levels. It believes these companies are well positioned to deliver 16–23% EBITDA growth in FY27 with upgrade optionality and trading at reasonable valuations.
- September 2, 2026 10:09
Goldman Sachs on AU Small Finance Bank: Buy, TP ₹1,270
Goldman Sachs maintains Buy on AU Small Finance Bank with a target price of ₹1,270. It reiterates loan growth guidance at 2 to 2.5 times nominal GDP. The bank refrains from margin guidance and flags moderation over the next few years. Asset quality remains benign, with credit cost guidance reiterated. It holds FY27 credit cost guidance at 90 bps of assets, says the bank is adequately capitalised for a year’s growth and is in no rush to raise funds, and reiterates FY27 RoA guidance at 1.8%.
- September 2, 2026 10:09
Morgan Stanley on SBI Cards: Underweight, TP ₹530
Morgan Stanley has an Underweight rating on SBI Cards with a target price of ₹530. Management indicated healthy retail consumption trends in recent months, driven by a higher share of EMI loans and early festive season spends. This follows some spends deferment seen in March–April owing to price increases in digital products. SBI Cards expects an uptick in industry overall spends from the third quarter onwards as the drag from higher rental spends in the base till the second quarter abates, and an uptick in industry retail spends from the second quarter itself. For SBI Cards, spends growth is expected to start reflecting in receivables growth from the third quarter onwards as the drag from asset-quality-related attrition abates. Incremental borrowing costs have risen in the second quarter mainly owing to higher T-bill rates while the repo rate remains on pause. However, it did not expect a significant increase in overall second-quarter borrowing costs.
- September 2, 2026 10:09
Goldman Sachs on Tech Mahindra: Sell, TP ₹1,420
Goldman Sachs retained Sell on Tech Mahindra with a target price of ₹1,420. Management meet takeaways: the near-term growth outlook is robust, supported by sustained strong deal-win momentum; the company is on track to meet its 15% EBIT margin guidance in FY27 despite wage hikes in the second and third quarters; the communication vertical should grow at least in line with the company average, with BFSI growth likely higher; and Tech Mahindra sees a large medium-term opportunity for service providers from AI. Per management, the ask rate to deliver consensus revenue growth of about 5–6% year-on-year in FY27 is 0.8–1% CQGR for the rest of FY27, which the company believes is achievable.
- September 2, 2026 10:08
Goldman Sachs on SBI Life: Buy, TP ₹2,235
Goldman Sachs retained Buy on SBI Life with a target price of ₹2,235 after a management meeting. Management sounded broadly confident on the company’s medium-term growth and margin outlook, while acknowledging continued regulatory uncertainty around distributor commissions and expense structures. The key message was that SBI Life appears relatively better placed versus peers given its consistent lower commission structure, stable captive relationship with State Bank of India and ongoing efforts to scale protection and non-par on the product side and raise agency channel salience in the distribution mix. Management reiterated individual APE growth guidance of around 14–15%, with bancassurance growing likely closer to 12% and agency at about 20%, while product mix improvement and operating leverage should help offset near-term GST-related margin pressure.

CLSA on oil and gas: sees limited near-term supply relief
CLSA said analysis shows that about 70% of the over 1 billion barrels supply shortfall from Hormuz countries in March to July 2026 was met by releases from strategic reserves of China, the US and the OECD. Limited upmove in crude oil prices, sharp backwardation of the futures curve and below-average net-long positioning signal a market expecting a more relaxed demand-supply scene soon. CLSA differs, as it sees a low likelihood of relief in near-term supply, while it fears a pick-up in imports from China, Korea and Japan as they become less willing to draw further from severely depleted strategic reserves. This could drive up oil prices within the next two to three months — a positive for ONGC and Oil India but a big negative for IOC, BPCL and HPCL.

Jefferies on cement: prices down about 1% in August
Jefferies said cement prices were down about 1% month-on-month in August (lower about 1% quarter-on-quarter in the second quarter so far) amid monsoon-led weakness. However, demand remains healthy, sustaining 7–8% year-on-year industry growth in 4QFY26/1QFY27. The east region saw the highest correction after outperforming other regions last quarter. The brokerage currently factors in a 1% quarter-on-quarter industry price decline in the second quarter and a recovery in the third quarter in estimates. Any deeper correction from current levels could pressure profit estimates. Preferred picks: UltraTech Cement and Grasim.

Jefferies on capital markets: expiry-day volatility hits options volumes
Jefferies said August 2026 was dominated by expiry-day volatility following the introduction of CAS. This adversely impacted equity options turnover and contracts, which is negative for BSE and Groww. MCX’s options/futures ADTO grew 15%/32% month-on-month, led by a rise in gold and silver prices. Equity flow market share fell for ICICI AMC and HDFC AMC, while Nippon Life India AMC continued to grow. For depositories, average delivered quantities improved in August 2026 (+10% month-on-month). Top picks: Groww, MCX, KFin Technologies and Nuvama.

Nomura on autos: strong demand continues, MHCVs surprise
Nomura said strong demand continues, with MHCVs surprising. TMCV and Bajaj Auto were well ahead, while Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and TVS Motor missed due to supply constraints. The brokerage continues to prefer Mahindra & Mahindra, Hyundai Motor, TMCV, TVS Motor and Sona BLW Precision Forgings.
- September 2, 2026 09:50
Jefferies on autos: strong August demand in 2Ws, PVs and trucks
Jefferies said auto demand momentum remained strong in August for two-wheelers, passenger vehicles and trucks, with registrations up 24–29% year-on-year. Tractor registrations grew just 3% year-on-year. The brokerage estimates that domestic wholesales grew about 36–43% year-on-year for PVs and trucks, and 10% for two-wheelers and tractors. Wholesales rose a sharp 56% year-on-year for TMPV, 21–38% for Ashok Leyland, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Auto, Maruti Suzuki and TVS Motor, and 9–11% for Eicher Motors (Royal Enfield) and Hyundai, but just 3% for Hero MotoCorp. Versus Jefferies estimates, August wholesales were in line for Maruti Suzuki, Hero MotoCorp and Hyundai, and ahead for the rest.

Market review by Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus.com
Bitcoin traded near $77,300 on Wednesday morning, down about 2.2% over 24 hours, as renewed inflation concerns weighed on global risk assets. Immediate support lies around $76,800-$77,000. A break below this area could expose the $74,000-$75,000 zone. Resistance is clustered around $79,500-$80,300. The next resistance level is around $80,800.
The latest on-chain picture is increasingly mixed. Bitcoin is currently in a transitional phase. Institutional allocation and settlement activity remain healthy, even as retail participation softens. Entity-adjusted transfer volumes remain elevated. Most circulating Bitcoin also continues to sit in unrealised profit. However, speculative leverage is rising, while volatility spreads are narrowing and spot momentum is weakening. These conditions suggest the market is becoming more sensitive to short-term volatility.
Institutional demand remains supportive overall. US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a fully reported $216.7 million net inflow on August 31. This followed the $201.9 million net outflow on August 28. Farside currently shows $35.3 million in net outflows for September 1. However, BlackRock’s IBIT figure remains unreported. Therefore, the latest session should still be treated as incomplete.
Large-cap altcoins are under greater pressure than Bitcoin. Ethereum traded around $2,418 (-2.2%), BNB near $684 (-1.3%), XRP around $1.36 (-1.5%), Solana near $99 (-4.0%) and TRON around $0.323 (-3.3%). Solana’s sharper decline highlights the more defensive tone across higher-beta assets.
Macro remains the dominant near-term risk. Markets now price roughly a 67% probability of a 25-basis-point Fed hike in September, up from about 40% a week ago. Higher oil prices and Treasury yields are reinforcing inflation concerns. Attention now turns to Friday’s US employment report. Economists expect roughly 56,000 new jobs. CPI follows on September 11, ahead of the Fed’s September 15-16 meeting.
Our advice: Investors should remain measured while macro uncertainty is elevated. Staggered accumulation and controlled exposure are preferable. Bitcoin has immediate support around $76,800-$77,000. The $79,500-$80,800 zone remains the key resistance area to monitor.

Fresh selloff on cards for India bonds as oil, Treasury yields see persistent spike
- September 2, 2026 08:14
Quote | Nischal Shetty, Founder, WazirX
“US manufacturing PMI remained expansionary at 54.6, although slower orders and employment signaled moderating momentum. Eurozone inflation rose to 3.3%, strengthening ECB rate-hike expectations, while WTI gained 5.2%, adding energy-driven price pressure. Global bond yields reached multiyear highs, tightening liquidity and increasing competition for crypto capital. India’s PMI held above 50, supporting participation. Overall, economic expansion supports Bitcoin and Ethereum, but higher oil prices, yields and rates may restrain momentum.
Bitcoin trades near $76,921 in a short-term pullback within its broader constructive structure. Immediate support sits around $76,300-$76,600, while $77,100-$77,300 forms resistance. Reclaiming resistance could restore buyer control, whereas losing support may expose the secondary $74,500-$74,600 zone. Momentum remains conditional on sustained participation above nearby moving averages during coming sessions.
Ethereum is positioned near $2,395 after easing below its short-term moving averages. The $2,370-$2,390 region provides immediate support, while $2,410-$2,455 represents resistance before the psychological $2,500 level. Remaining above support would stabilize the setup, though Futures traders may seek stronger volume, open interest, and balanced funding before confirming renewed momentum.
Filecoin trades near $0.767 with a constructive but mixed daily setup. Support rests around $0.735-$0.740, while $0.774-$0.780 forms resistance ahead of $0.80. Holding support could preserve buyer interest; a break below it may weaken the current structure over coming sessions.
Global risk appetite weakened as the Nasdaq fell 1.03%, while the S&P 500 and Dow also declined. Asian pressure centered on the KOSPI and Nikkei 225, although the Sensex and Singapore market remained nearly flat. The VIX rose to 16.34 but stayed within a moderate range. Gold dropped 0.98%, suggesting limited defensive rotation, while oil gained 1.76%. Crypto’s relative stability could reinforce its diversification appeal, although broader risk aversion may keep participation selective near term.
Institutional demand remained strong last week, with US spot Bitcoin ETFs recording about $924.5 million in net inflows, while Ethereum ETFs attracted roughly $815.7 million. Despite these flows, Bitcoin finished the week broadly flat near $77,800, while Ethereum declined around 2%. The divergence suggests ETF demand is providing underlying support but not immediately driving prices higher, as profit-taking, broader market selling, macro uncertainty, and existing liquidity can absorb fresh institutional capital.”

Asian Stocks, Bonds Decline as Crude Oil Advances: Markets Wrap
Stocks and bonds fell as rising oil prices fueled inflation concerns and the prospect of tighter monetary policy, driving a risk-off tone across markets.
MSCI’s Asia Pacific equities gauge dropped 1.2%, with stocks in Japan and South Korea sliding 2.5%. That came after the S&P 500 Index retreated for a third consecutive session and the Nasdaq 100 Index fell 1.3%.
Dell Technologies Inc. bucked the overall downbeat tone, jumping 8% in extended trading after raising its annual sales forecast. Tech remained in focus with Nvidia Corp. said to be in advanced talks to acquire artificial intelligence startup Hugging Face in a $14 billion deal.
Meanwhile, Brent rose 1.6% to $96.20 a barrel as escalating fighting between the US and Iran heightened the risk of further disruptions to oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz. Rising oil prices have pressured bonds, pushing global yields to the highest since 2008, as traders increased bets the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates.
Australian bonds fell at the open after the 10-year Treasury yield climbed five basis points to 4.80% in New York trading. New Zealand government debt also declined, with traders pricing in a near-certain rate hike by the central bank later Wednesday. (Bloomberg)

Australian shares slide ahead of GDP data as miners, gold stocks sink
Australian shares fell to a one-month low on Wednesday, dragged down by miners and gold stocks, while surging oil prices fuelled inflation concerns and expectations of rate hikes ahead of a key economic output print due later in the day.
The S&P/ASX 200 index was down 1.3% at 8,952.30 points, as at 0039 GMT, and on track for its weakest session since early-July, if current momentum persists. The benchmark closed 0.1% lower on Tuesday.
Concerns over a potential oil supply disruption took centerstage after the conflict between the U.S. and Iran resumed, reigniting inflation worries and pushing oil prices higher.
That bolstered the case for a rate hike by the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA), with markets pricing in a 50% chance that the central bank will add 25 basis points to the key rate as early as this month’s meeting. (Reuters)
