The Kerala Co-operative Development and Welfare Fund Board has sanctioned ₹28.5 crore as loan for propping up eight crisis-hit cooperative sector institutions including the Kandala Service Cooperative Bank. The decision was taken by the board meeting held the other day, Minister for Cooperation V.N. Vasavan said on Wednesday. The following institutions will receive help: Chakkitapara Service Cooperative Bank (₹5 crore), Kanjiram Service Cooperative Bank (₹2 crore), Omallur Service Cooperative Bank (₹5 crore), Koduvally Scheduled Caste Cooperative Society (₹50 lakh), EMS Memorial Cooperative Hospital and Research Centre (₹2 crore), Cherpulassery Cooperative Hospital (₹2 crore), Kandala Service Cooperative Bank (₹6 crore) and Thirumala Service Cooperative Society (₹6 crore). The decision is aimed at strengthening crisis-ridden cooperative sector institutions, the Minister said.
