The new Arcadia Cradle is a steerer-tube-mounted handlebar cradle made from carbon tubes and CNC-machined parts. With an integrated accessory mount and hidden storage, it looks like an intriguing option. Check it out here…

Steerer-tube-mounted handlebar systems aren’t new. We’ve seen clever designs from RatKing, Good Day Curiosity, and Rogue Panda Designs that keep gear low, tight to the front of the bike, and clear of cables and brake lines. Steerer-mounted systems are also impervious to rotation amid rough bumps and impacts. Clorofilla Bike Lab in Italy specializes in CNC-machined bicycles but has turned its attention to bikepacking gear for its latest design.

Arcadia Cradle

The Arcadia Cradle was teased at Bespoked in Dresden last September, and it’s now available for purchase. The Arcadia is a steerer-tube-mounted cradle made from a mix of CNC-machined solid 7075 aluminum and carbon tubes. The CNC-machined arms can pivot around the tubes, so the design includes plenty of adjustment, and the upper tube mounts GPS devices or lights above the main cradle.

Arcadia Cradle

The Arcadia Cradle supports up to eight pounds (four kilograms) of gear, even on rough trails, and the entire system weighs 400 grams. Inside the lower tube is a four-meter nylon cord, a handy accessory for bike trips that you can use to hang laundry, secure a tarp to the bike, and more. All carbon components are made by a factory in Tuscany, Italy, and the CNC-machined parts are made by Clorofilla in Cesena, the same family-owned business that has been machining since 1947.

The cradle replaces a 15mm spacer but also requires 5 to 10mm of clearance above it, depending on your stem, and it’s available in three colors: Silver, Moka, and Purple. The Arcadia Cradle costs €198 (~$220 USD) and is available now.
