Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayBetween January and February of this year, Costa Rica welcomed 653,000 tourists, according to the most recent figures from the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT).
The good news is that, when comparing the same period to 2025, a 10% increase in visitor numbers is evident.
Specifically, the peak tourism season and the increase in the number of visitors would explain why the country is flooded with dollars and, as a result, the dollar exchange rate is at rock bottom.
This Monday, the Foreign Exchange Market (Monex) recorded an average exchange rate of ¢469.2.
In the second month of 2026, 331,967 visitors arrived in Costa Rica by all means of transport. 69.3% came from North America.
In addition to North America, some European markets are also showing signs of recovery in tourist arrivals during the first months of the year.
