Alexander Skarsgård (Pillion, The Legend of Tarzan) playing a man made entirely out of wicker is an image that you’ll never be able to get out of your head after watching the first UK trailer for Black Bear’s upcoming comedic fable, Wicker.

The highly anticipated film also stars Oliva Colman (The Favourite, The Lost Daughter) as the Fisherwoman, who her fellow townspeople have long ostracised for being smelly and single. Finally reaching her tipping point, she commissions the local basketmaker (Peter Dinklage) to weave her the perfect husband made out of wicker (Skarsgård). But when he turns out to be more spectacular than she ever imagined, their unconventional romance triggers outrage, jealousy, and chaos within their small, conservative village.

Alongside Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård, the outstanding ensemble cast is rounded out by Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) and Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown). Richard E. Grant (Withnail and I), Nabhaan Rizwan (Kaos, In Camera), Marli Siu (Everything I Know About Love), and Ella Bruccoleri (The Other Bennet Sister) also star.

Directors Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson also co-wrote the screenplay, which they adapted from the acclaimed short story “The Wicker Husband” by Ursula Wills.

Based on this first trailer alone, which you can watch below, Wicker is sure to be nothing short of an eccentric, funny, and raunchy film.

The film made its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, where it received widespread critical acclaim.

Wicker will be released in UK and Irish cinemas on 30th October.
