Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayAn investigation is underway after an ICE (Immigration Customs Enforcement) agent shot a man, who they allege has a deportation order, in Austin, Texas on Sunday. Local officials say Wilber Rafael Garces Perez is in serious but stable condition after he was shot once in the torso. On Monday afternoon, he was transferred from hospital care into ICE detention and still had a bullet lodged in his back. The National President of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Roman Palomares said “a federal badge is not a shield. A mask is not a license. Why are we doing this? Because the Department of Homeland Security and ICE has lost the trust of the American people.” “This is not America anymore. This is Trump's America, and this is what it's causing that we need to change. The people that haven't voted, I need them to vote. I need them to vote because that's the only way that we're going to change this.” Austin resident Limon Verde said. The shooting has since sparked protests by dozens of people that turned violent at times. Protesters and local officials are demanding accountability, with Austin Mayor Kirk Watson calling for an independent investigation into the incident, saying, “Austin deserves answers.” For more info, please go to https://globalnews.ca Subscribe to Global News Channel HERE: http://bit.ly/20fcXDc Follow Global News on X HERE: http://bit.ly/1Toz8mt Follow Global News on TikTok HERE: https://www.tiktok.com/@globalnews.ca?lang=en #GlobalNews
