The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UPSSSC) on Monday night declared the final result of the examination held to fill 1,468 Village Panchayat Officer posts. It was declared around 8.30 p.m., hours after candidates staged a protest outside the commission’s office raising the demand.

According to the protesters, UPSSSC officials assured them during the day that the result would be declared within a day or two. “We came with the intention of holding an indefinite stir, but the officials assured us that the result will be declared soon,” said Ravi Pandey, an aspirant.

In a related development, candidates seeking appointment to 5,512 Junior Assistant posts announced a peaceful protest outside the UPSSSC office on Tuesday to press for the publication of their final merit list. “The vacancies were notified in 2023. The mains exam was held in June 2025 and the document verification was done in June this year. The prolonged delay is a criminal act,” said Deepak Kumar, an aspirant from Hathras.

‘Adhere to deadlines’

Amid the protests, Chief Secretary Shashi Prakash Goyal said he held a meeting with various State commissions and recruitment boards to discuss expanding employment opportunities and ensuring timely completion of exams.

“Emphasis was placed on ensuring adherence to the annual calendar and setting deadlines for examinations, results, document verification, and appointment processes,” he said in a post on X.
