The White House has confirmed what its view of the "unconditional surrender" of Iran will look like.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the final decision on whether the country would be in a place of "unconditional surrender would lie with President Trump, and depends on the elimination of the country's nuclear capabilities.
"When President Trump says that Iran is in a place of unconditional surrender, he's not claiming the Iranian regime is going to come out and say that themselves," Leavitt said.
"What the president means is that Iran's threats will no longer be backed by a ballistic missile arsenal that protects them from building a nuclear bomb in their country."
When asked what Trump was looking for in determining if Iran was ready to surrender, Leavitt said: "When they no longer pose a credible and direct threat to the United States of America and our allies."

President Donald Trump has demanded the immediate removal of mines reportedly placed in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to CNN, Iran has laid a few dozen mines in the key waterway but has the capability to lay hundreds more.
In a post to his Truth Social account, Trump issued a not so veiled threat to the country if it did not stop laying mines in the Strait, which is an important channel in the shipment of oil around the world.
"If for any reason mines were placed, and they are not removed forthwith, the Military consequences to Iran will be at a level never seen before," he claimed.
"If, on the other hand, they remove what may have been placed, it will be a giant step in the right direction!"

Over 3000 Australians have arrived home from the Middle East since the conflict began on March 4.

The Pentagon will release a report into a strike on a girls' school in Iran that killed hundreds, the White House said.
"The Department of War will do that — the investigation continues," press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters.
President Donald Trump previously claimed it was Iran who had conducted the devastating strike that killed 165 people, but recent footage released by an investigative group appears to show the building being hit by an American Tomahawk missile.
Trump has now softened his rhetoric, according to Leavitt.
"As the president said yesterday at his press conference, he will accept the conclusion of that investigation, whatever it may be," she said.
"We're not going to get ahead of the Department of War and the conclusion of that investigation. The president has a right to share his opinions with the American public, but he has said he'll accept the conclusion of that investigation."

US President Donald Trump "does not rule options out" according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, including the prospect of sending ground troops into the region.
"As for boots on the ground, the president has talked about this repeatedly," she said at a press conference this morning.
"Wisely, he does not rule options out as commander in chief. So again, I would hesitate to confirm anything that a Democrat on Capitol Hill says right now about the president's thinking."
She appeared to be referring to comments made by several Democratic senators earlier in the day.
"We seem to be on a path toward deploying American troops on the ground in Iran to accomplish any of the potential objectives here," Richard Blumenthal said on Capitol Hill.

The USA has continued to show signals of their intent in the Middle East conflict, with US Central Command releasing video of several strikes on Iranian vehicles.
"The Iranian regime can try to hide their missile launchers, but U.S. forces won't stop looking," it said on a post on X.
"When we find them, we're taking them out."
The video from the air shows several airstrikes where trucks hiding under trees, bridges or tunnels are hit. It is not known exactly what these vehicles were.
The Pentagon has said around 140 US soldiers have been wounded in the Middle East conflict so far, including eight who were seriously wounded.
"The vast majority of these injuries have been minor, and 108 service members have already returned to duty. Eight service members remain listed as severely injured and are receiving the highest level of medical care," Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said in a statement this morning.
Seven US soldiers have been killed in action from retaliatory strikes from Iran on US installations around the Middle East.
British Airways has cancelled most of its flights through the Middle East until the end of the month, citing uncertainty amid the US-Israel war on Iran.
The major airline, which is a popular choice for Australians travelling to and from London, this morning said all flights to Amman, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai and Tel Aviv were cancelled until the end of this month.
All Abu Dhabi flights would be cancelled until later in the year and flights to Oman would be paused after repatriation flights today and tomorrow.
Flights to Saudi Arabia still appeared to be available on the airline's website this morning.
