Following Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s reply to the motion of thanks to Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar’s address to the House, the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die by Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar on Tuesday.

Earlier, Leader of the House and Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management K.A. Sengottaiyan moved a resolution to adjourn the House sine die, and it was passed.

The first Assembly session of the TVK-led government after Mr. Vijay assumed office as Chief Minister and won the trust vote began with the Governor’s address on June 18. On June 19, the Assembly unanimously passed a resolution opposing the Karnataka government’s proposal to construct a balancing reservoir across the Cauvery at Mekedatu.

Several members of the House spoke on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address during the session on June 19, and 22.
