Right now, rumours are swirling over which actors will take on the key roles of Rogue and Beast in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot.

Sadie Sink’s role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day (releasing July 31st) is widely expected to be Jean Grey, but casting for other X-Men roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has mostly been speculative.

The most recent update on the film’s status is from its director, Jake Schreier, who told Collider that Lee Sung Jin (Beef) and Joanna Calo (The Bear, Thunderbolts*) are currently working on a draft of the script.

Despite that update meaning casting is likely still some time away, a new report by Jeff Sneider at The Hot Mic claims several actors are already being eyed for roles. Specifically, he says actress Odessa A’zion (Marty Supreme) is being eyed for Rogue and actor Peter Claffey (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms) for Beast.

Of course, Marvel hasn’t confirmed (or denied) any of this, but Sneider says these rumours are from the same source who has previously had several accurate casting scoops for Marvel. A release date for the X-Men reboot is still TBD, but it’s expected to hit cinemas in 2028. Marvel currently has three untitled films set to release that year, on May 5th, July 28th, and December 15th.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day, meanwhile, opens July 31st with Tom Holland returning in the title role.
