Residents in LaSalle, Que., are grappling with the death of a three-year-old after an inflatable play structure was sent airborne by a sudden gust of wind on Sunday afternoon during a community event. A severe thunderstorm watch was issued shortly before noon Sunday and was upgraded to a warning at around 3:50 p.m., 30 minutes before the tragedy occurred. One company that installs inflatable play structures spoke to Global News and said there are currently no regulations in Quebec. The tragedy is prompting renewed concerns over safety regulations and the use of such structures in severe weather conditions. Phil Carpenter reports.
