Revelate Designs introduced the Mag Tank top tube bag in 2017, and it has proven itself useful and popular with riders ranging from bikepackers to long-distance racers. After nine years, Revelate has given the Mag-Tank a glow-up, boosting weather protection, stability, and ease of attachment. Revelate is also introducing the Mag-Tank FastTrack with a new quick-release attachment system, making it even easier to install and remove.

For the ultra-endurance and/or bikepacking crowd, Revelate also just launched the Extended Play bags. These are the brand’s largest capacity top tube bags to date, with 14-inch and 18-inch sizes to keep all of your gummy worms and other ride essentials in arm’s reach.

Updated Mag-Tank: $95

Revelate’s Mag-Tank has been around for quite a few years now. The latest version still has a wedge shape and a zipper-free, magnetic flap closure, but Revelate gave it numerous material and feature updates to refine its performance and make it even better than the original.

The new Mag-Tank is made with a 210 D TPU-laminated nylon ripstop material with RF-welded seams and a new fitted lid. The Fidlock magnetic buckle provides security and one-handed operation. It comes with a removable TPU liner, and it has an HDPE plastic stiffening plate. Altogether, Revelate says the new materials and design offer improved weather protection.

The updated Mag-Tank attaches with a new rubber strap system that connects to the bag’s internal structure for improved stability. The grippy silicone mounting pads are easily adjustable, and reportedly so secure that a head tube strap is no longer required. Revelate also included an internal key clip and a cable port to run charging cables cleanly and easily from inside the bag.

The Mag-Tank weighs a claimed 187 grams (6.6 oz.) and offers 0.5 liters (30.5 in³) of storage capacity. It’s 9” long, with its height tapering from 4.5” to 2.5”, and its width tapering from 2.75” to 2”, from front to back.

Mag-Tank FastTrack: $99

Along with the updated Mag-Tank, Revelate is also introducing the Mag-Tank FastTrack. They essentially removed the strap mounting system of the standard version and replaced it with the bolt-on, quick-release FastTrack system.

The low-profile FastTrack system bolts a bracket to any bike with top-tube mounts and allows you to quickly and easily attach and remove the Mag-Tank bag. With the slide-rail system on the bottom of the bag, it slides onto the mounting bracket and secures/releases with a spring-tensioned latch.

Extended Play: $125 – $130

Going big? Revelate’s new Extended Play top tube bags are the largest it has ever made. Available in 14” and 18” lengths, the Extended Play bags offer 1.5 and 2.0 liters of storage capacity, respectively. Whether you’re racing ultra-distance or bikepacking for days on end, the Extended Play bags are made to provide you with more, easily accessible storage.

The Extended Play bags are made with the same durable 210 D TPU-laminated nylon ripstop and welded seam construction as the Mag-Tank. They also include the removable TPU liner for quick and easy cleaning. These larger bags feature molded-tooth zippers and have a formed internal structure to add stability.

Like the standard Mag-Tank, the Extended Play bags use molded rubber mounting pads for an adjustable, no-slip grip. Along the bottom of the bags, multiple mounting points make it easy to optimize the straps’ position for your frame. Revelate also included a cable port for tidy charging cable management on the go.

The 14” Extended Play has a storage capacity of 1.5 liters and weighs a claimed 240 grams. The 18” version weighs slightly more at 296 grams with 2.0 liters of storage.
