American Pie star Seann William Scott, known for his role as the cocky but lovable Stifler, has confirmed to ComingSoon that a fifth installment to the comedy franchise isn’t likely to happen.

When talking to the outlet about Pie co-star Jason Biggs (Jim Levenstein), who has recently been promoting his black-comedy thriller Untitled Home Invasion Romance and who Scott cited as “a great director… so smart, even from the beginning,” the actor affirmed his stance on the matter of another sequel.

“For sure. I haven’t seen his [Jason’s] movie yet. It looks amazing. The reviews were incredible. I’m not surprised that he’s a great director. He’s so smart, even from the beginning. You could just tell he’s such a star. But yeah, of course, with Biggs directing, that would be amazing. I think it would be really fun to get everybody together. I don’t think it’ll ever happen, but it’s fun to think about.”

Scott gave his reasoning that R-rated comedies no longer hold much strength or a place in theatrical releases of today’s landscape.

“I don’t know. Maybe it’ll take a couple of R-rated comedies to work and be a success,” he explained. “Then they’re like, ‘Oh, people like this stuff again.’”
