Ben Shephard has been ridiculed over the brand name for his new skincare line. The This Morning presenter, 50, launched the cosmetics brand earlier this year with fellow TV star Joel Dommett, 41, and took to social media on Thursday to share a video showing himself getting ready.
As part of the clip, Ben appeared just in a towel as he showcased his skincare routine and told his followers how well everything was going with the development of the product. He can be seen showing of various products from within the vast range.
He explained to his followers: "A quick wash with our For Skin cleanser, which if I say so myself, I am absolutely loving. I follow this up with a cheeky little bit of For Skin moisturiser to keep my face smooth and glowing for work. Nothing complicated which is exactly how we like it."
However, some viewers thought he was saying foreskin. One asked: "Did anyone else hear 'foreskin' moisturiser?" Another said: "Am I hearing the name correctly lol." A third said: "You were brave calling it your forskin cleanser."
In the footage, he then gets dressed and heads off to a day at This Morning, which he has co-presented with Cat Deeley for just over two years now.
He wrote on Instagram: "Get ready with me as I head into work. We’ve been developing our @forskin official cleanser and moisturizers which, and we are biased obvs , is blooming glorious and a great way to start the day- can’t wait for you to be able to try them too.
"Then it’s off to work we go!! Spin around the dressing room, make up, studio and before I know it we’re heading home!! How do you start your day? What’s your routine? Are you ready for @forksin?"
But fans of the former Good Morning Britain star, who made his name hosting GMTV alongside Kate Garraway in the 1990s, were quick to point out the tongue-in-cheek name of the brand and what it really sounded like.
One fan wrote in the comments: "The most ridiculous name.. but you knew what you were doing. For one, I would never buy anything for my hubby with that name!" Another said: "For...skin cleanser & moisturiser!! You make me laugh. Your awesome Ben!"
On the ITV soap Coronation Street, florist Mary Taylor, who is played by Patti Clare, is well-known for her infatuation with the Tipping Point host and fans of the long-running programme wondered just when scriptwriters would pick up on the name.
One wrote: "Eagerly awaiting Mary on Coronation Street making references to Ben Shepherd's forskin!" Another said: "Wait till Mary from Corrie hears about Ben and his ForeSkin! lol clever branding." Earlier this year, Ben and Joel let fans decide what the name of the brand would be.
At the time, during a chat with Joel on their podcast The Businessman, Ben said: "We had the sensible option, we had a fun option, then we had the more disruptive option, didn’t we?”
Joel, who is best known for fronting The Masked Singer and a variety of other ITV shows, first teamed up with Ben on the venture two yeas ago and replied: "And it seems people have gone for the more disruptive!"
