Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayHarry Kane’s new, three-year deal at Bayern Munich makes him the player with the highest base salary in Europe.
The England captain is now thought to be earning in the region of £500,000 a week before bonuses and endorsements on a contract that runs until 2029.
Kane has scored 156 goals in 161 competitive appearances since moving to Munich from Tottenham, helping the club to two Bundesliga titles and one DFB-Pokal. He was also handed the 2026 Ballon d’Or last month.
He told the club’s official website: “I feel right at home at FC Bayern. I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich. We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager. It makes me very proud to be part of this club. My whole family is very happy here. I was keen to stay. I’m now looking forward to the future and I want to win many more titles with this great club.”
Bayern president Herbert Hainer added: “What began as a major transfer has, over time, become a special chapter in FC Bayern’s history. Harry Kane lives up to every promise football has to offer, and he has secured his place in the hearts of the fans as one of the greatest figures in the sport of our time. My compliments to Jan-Christian Dreesen and our sporting management team. This is a special moment for FC Bayern today.”
Kane, 33, has excelled since leaving the Premier League for the Bundesliga and this new deal reflects his status as one of the best players in the world.
But how does it compare financially to Europe’s other big hitters?
The Top 10 best-paid footballers in Europe
1. Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) – £500,000 a week
The England captain now sits at the top of the tree. At 33, this is likely to be his last bumper pay deal.
2. Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid) – £495,000 a week
Smaller than Kane’s by salary but, having joined on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in 2024, France captain Mbappe also receives an annual payment in the region of £30million as part of his signing on fee.
3. Erling Haaland (Manchester City) – £480,000 a week
Haaland signed a nine-and-a-half year contract at the Etihad in January 2025 on terms that reflected his status as one of the best strikers in the world. His base may be slightly smaller than Kane’s but his bonuses and endorsements propel him well beyond the former Spurs man.
4. Vinicius Jr (Real Madrid) – £475,000 a week
After months of wrangling, Vinicius Jr and Real Madrid finally came to an agreement that saw the Brazil winger sign a new, six-year deal at the Bernabeu in August. Another who has hugely lucrative endorsements with the likes of Pepsi and Nike.
5. Rodri (Barcelona) – £425,000 a week
Barcelona managed to prise the Spain midfielder out of Manchester City over the summer and his worth to club and country was reflected in a lucrative salary.
6. Jamaal Musiala (Bayern Munich) – £367,000 a week
A slightly surprising inclusion this high up the list but the Bayern star signed his deal in 2025 when he was at the peak of his powers and on his way to becoming one of the most exciting players in Europe. Injuries have stalled the 23-year-old’s progress.
7. Lamine Yamal (Barcelona) – £364,000 a week
Still only 19 years of age, the Barcelona star penned a new deal in May 2025 that is loaded with incentives as he develops. His base is eye-watering already but he has the potential to earn the most of any player on the list when linked to endorsements and future contracts.
8. Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) – £350,000 a week
The Liverpool captain signed a new deal at Anfield in April 2025 and continues to play at the highest level at the age of 35. Has arguably been the best central defender in world football over the duration of his time on Merseyside.
9. Trent Alexander-Arnold (Real Madrid) – £340,000 a week
Having agreed to join Real Madrid on a free after letting his Liverpool contract wind down, the Spanish club were ultimately forced to pay a small fee to enable him to play in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. His time at the Bernabeu has not gone as planned.
10. Enzo Fernandez (Manchester City) – £325,000 a week
The Argentina star joined City from Chelsea over the summer as part of a midfield rebuild that also included the arrival of Elliot Anderson. Has been transferred twice for over £100m and his salary reflects that.
