PROTECT YOURSELF with Orgo-Life® QUANTUM TECHNOLOGY
Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayWe’re excited to announce that Gossamer Gear is officially entering the freestanding tent game. The Free is a one-person tent with a trail weight well under two pounds. Learn all about the Gossamer Gear The Free tent and the brand’s new ClearSkies fabric here…
For more than two decades, Texas-based Gossamer Gear has been committed to making gear and lightweight tents that are durable and not overly expensive. Their lineup includes several backpacks, shelters, and ultralight trekking poles. The One and The Two are non-freestanding trekking-pole-style shelters popular among backpackers and bikepackers. We’ve been curious to see if they would eventually try their hand at a freestanding tent, and today the Gossamer Gear The Free officially released…
Gossamer Gear The Free features a double-wall design, a separate rain fly, and a stake-free setup (except at the doorway/vestibule). Features include factory-done seam tape, reflective zipper pulls and guy lines, and color-matched hardware and webbing at the corners to make setup quick and easy.
The Free 1p is currently only available as a one-person model. It’s made from Gossamer’s new ClearSkies 15D Recycled Robic fabric with a 1200mm SIL/PU coating. It’s PFAS-free and provides a 4,923mm of hydrostatic head (HH) water resistance. The same fabric is also being rolled out across updated versions of Gossamer Gear’s The One, The Two, and The Twinn Tarp.
The floor area is 86″ (218.4cm) long with a 34″ (86.4cm) width at the head of the tent tapering to 21.5″ (54.6cm). The peak height is 39″ (99.1cm). The total weight of The Free 1p is 935.8g (33.02 oz), or 845g (29.8 oz). That includes the body, fly, and poles. Each tent includes a DAC NFL 8.7mm aluminum pole set with eco green anodizing, six aluminum stakes, guylines, a pole repair section, color-coded aluminum foot pieces, a stuff sack, and a pole bag.
The Free 1P costs $400 USD and is available now from GossamerGear.com.
